coasterkid21
I'm not as well versed about other parks, but I can tell you a few tips about Kennywood. Since you're going in early June, be aware of the fact that school picnics may have started by then. (I know my local school district's is that Friday) Also, one and a half days is plenty of time to ride everything, so don't feel the need to be pressured into riding everything all at once. The most I've ever waited for a coaster there is about an hour, but even that is rare. If you are still worried however you can buy a line skipping pass for something like $20. Go to exterminator RIGHT after the park opens. That's the only ride in the park that actually gets very busy. The evenings can have two hour waits, but it's usually walk on right in the morning. Have fun!
yankeeman311
I know you already made your choice but I would've went with #1 myself because you not only save money but make the later days of your vacation much easier. I personally like getting the traveling out of the way on Day 1 because that's what Day 1 is- a traveling day. But have fun with whatever you do. But have fun with whatever you do. heh. . keep in mind, we're OLD so yeah. . a 5 hour drive after a flight? a bit much. that's why you'll note my itinerary has every "check out of hotel" the day after we've spent full day in the park, and I always planned for an afternoon nap (for him) once we check in somewhere. not only is he of the age that he's gonna get park discounts (hehe), but note that he's recovering from stage 4 cancer. . so he tends to tire out pretty easy still. . . so yeah, the increased cost, but avoiding a 5 hour drive on the same day we fly? TOTALLY worth it. at least I'm thinking so. (and he agreed, which is why I went with option 3).
bert425
too funny. it turns out that by renting the car in Pittsburgh, and returning it in Philly (instead of the other way around?). over $300 cheaper! Yes, WITH the extra day added. just sillyness. but all booked. unfortunately, our incoming flight doesn't get us into Pittsburgh until almost 8pm (long layover between flights), so we'll have to blow off the 1st evening at Kennywood, but eh. . everyone says 1 day is really enough, so we'll just start bright and early the next day.
