Ape Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 My wife gave birth to our first born at the end of july by c-section. She is going to ask the doctor at the six week visit when can she ride roller coasters again. We are hoping to make a cedar point trip or at least a trip to kings island at the ten week mark. What I am wondering is if there is anyone on here that has faced the same thing and how soon after you were able to ride? Same for husbands how soon after was your wife able to ride? Was there any pain or discomfort? I know everyone is different and heals differently so I was curious.
SharkTums Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I would be really careful and ask her doctor and she needs to trust her body and listen to it above all. A C-Section is major surgery, even though no one treats it as such. I didn't have a C-Section, but I rode kiddie coasters about six weeks after, and rode major stuff at 12 weeks with no pain or discomfort (well, other than what the coaster would normally produce!) Is she really so wanting to get back on coasters? It's not the worst thing in the world to just go without them sometimes!
Ape Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 I've always been a coaster geek and when we got together that rubbed off on her. She was upset that we couldn't make it to any parks this summer. We really wanted to go to cedar point because last year we took a year off from that park. So, yeah she is really into wanting to ride. We could even wait until the last weekend of the season pushing it to twelve weeks. We will see What the doctor says In a couple of weeks. She said she has had minimal pain and discomfort even right after we got home from the hospital.
ernierocker Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 ^Yeah, definitely take your doctor's advise on this one. Everyone heals differently and they will know whats best in this situation.
Ape Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 I am hoping he says we are good to go. Best comment I've seen on the subject was " if I'm allowed to have sex six weeks after I should be allowed to ride a damn roller coaster". I guess not many on here have been through a similar situation?

As much as you'd like to think so, your penis is *NOT* "The Beast!" Seriously though, stabbing her with your flesh sword for 30 seconds is nowhere NEAR as stressful on the body and riding some of the coasters at Kings Island and Cedar Point. Listen to what your doctor says, but most importantly listen to how your wife feels. Like Elissa said, would it really be so bad to not rush right back on a coaster or two and potentially do real harm to your body? --Robb "Common sense...don't let it be un-common." Alvey
Ape Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Yeah we were never planning on rushing anything. If the doctor says no go or she is un comfortable its not worth trying. If the doctor says it should be fine and she is comfortable we would probably start with something smooth as opposed to running straight for the beast lol. See how she feels after that and either continue or be done with it. Its hard to find many people talking about this sort of thing so I figured this would be a good place to have a thread about it and share their recovery experiences. Hopefully that can happen but I'm not sure of how many users there are or would even pay attention to this.
Ape Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 We just left the doctor for her six week visit. He said she is good to go if she wants to ride right now if she wants. We won't be going for another month but I forsee a cedar point trip in our future! Ill update with if she has any discomfort or issues riding anything when the time comes.
Ape Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I forgot to update this. I bought us platinum passes for next season and we got a free visit this year at kings island. We used it the second weekend in october. It was overly crowded and we got rained on but it was still nice to get some rides in this season. We rode. Diamondback, delirium, racer, beast, and windseeker. She had discomfort only a couple times. Mostly due to standing in line. A couple spots on racer bothered her but it was in her back where she got the epidural. She felt fine other than those minor things though. It was 9-10 weeks after the c-section. So maybe if someone has the same questions we did they will stumble across this. Everyone is different, listen to your body and the doctor.
