Hiya, guys! Last week I made the trek from Las Vegas to San Diego for some fun times at the Zoo with my roommate. There's really not much to report with text since, you know, it's a zoo. They do have a skyride, though, so that means it counts as an amusement park!

Anyway, short story shorter, we left Las Vegas just before midnight after we were both home from work. I drove straight on through the 328 miles while she slept. We pulled into the (free!) parking lot right around 4:30am. In the words of Clark Griswald, "First ones here!" It was around this time that I soon realized how much it sucks trying to sleep in the driver seat of my Honda Civic Coupe. After constantly moving around trying to get comfortable my body succumbed to exhaustion and I ended up getting maybe two hours of sleep. We woke up right at 9am for the Zoo's opening.

On with the (cute and fuzzy animal) pictures!

Big Daddy elephant. He was in la la land all day. Seriously, there was one point where he was just rocking side to side without a care in the world.

They're smaller, but should they really be lesser if they're cuter?

Great photos, some really cute animals. The tiny monkey was probably my favorite.

We went there the first weekend in August and had a blast. Last time I was there was probably 5 years ago and they added so much to the zoo. The Elephant area was amazing and a huge step up from what it was before. The Polar Bear Plunge was cool (literally) too because one of the trainers had the polar pouching at a ball she was holding on the opposite side of the glass. It makes you feel that if you were a seal...you'd be dead.

Did you ride the Balboa park Model Train and/or the Merry-Go-Round just outside the zoo? The train has been there forever...something like since the 1940's.

No we didn't. We spent the entire day (9am until 8:30pm) inside the Zoo. By that point the train and carousel were shut down.
