Anac0nda Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5OM-2bTq-4g Apparently it was the time for the old petting zoo to step out and make room for the parks next installment: Doghill (Koiramäki in Finnish), which here in Finland is a famous childrens book series by Mauri Kunnas. It features humanized dogs and other animals in various settings, such as Finnish folklores, but mainly focuses in living in a Finnish farm in the 19th century. As said, it will be where the petting zoo was, but due to the nature of the theme, some animals will stay (click the link to see there will be a stable). Also, the parks dark ride was removed to make room for Angry Birds Land, but there's a line in the video saying: "Eek! Will you dare to enter Drakkula's castle?" referring to a child-friendly ghost book in the Doghill series (which happens to be my favourite from my childhood). I have a hunch this will be a great investment! While similar to AB Land (being Finnish theme and all), I prefer this as this is more "real-like" and not "plastic-ish", if you know what I mean .
Wiltsu Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I think this is a really good and interesting acquisition of the park and improve the overall look of the park. Sarkanniemi is otherwise a great park, but they should improve the Flat Ride portfolio such as: Zamperla Air Race, Power Surge Or Hawk, because they have acquired a lot of Zamperla rides so those would be good options. In fact I would remove Take Off because it does not fit into a fixed park. Jet Star would fit in place of Gerstlauer Eurofighter 320 or El Loco. I think Motogee and Tyrsky were good acquisitions, while some have complained about the poor quality of the new equipment.
Rill'o'beily Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Okay i didn't really know where else to put this, but here: Since särkänniemi hasn't brought in anything new since 2014 when they decided to get a power surge which was sad news really since power surges aren't really great unless run on a proper cycle, it's great that now they're getting a proper big flat again! It's called very creatively X (i know their naming department must get paid alot) [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] It's a Zamperla (big surprise there) Discovery Revolution, but not the small sized one, it's the same as Stratosphere at Rainbow's End in New Zealand. It has 30 seats It can swing up to 80km/h Up to 4.8g acceleration It goes up to 30 metres!
Myself Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I'm trying to figure out where in the park this is...based on the last shot, I'm guessing it replaced the wave swinger?

It didn't replace anything, they moved the Troika a bit to the side to fit into an empty space that the magic carpet left in the 2014 season, so that X can fit into a new space between troika and high voltage and still leave a good gap to walk past. (Please note that this picture is from the winter and at this point the ride is nearly finished)
