I tried watching the show because I think Ellen is funny ...

 

But the show as just BAD all around.

The only funny part of the Emmy's are the nominee list for the writers on "Musical/Variety/Comedy". They always try to do funny things instead of just showing pictures of all the writers.

For example, last night, for "Da Ali G Show", they showed pictures of close-ups on gay porn star's faces with the writers name below it. For Conan, they had all the writer's names go by really fast, and then a really long shot of Conan O'Brien looking like Fabio. Every year is different, and they're always really funny. It's basically the only reason I watch it. (Thank God for Tivo, I can just fast forward to that, and anything when Jon Stewart or Conan are presenters).
