Im debating if I should stay onsite or offsite. I really want to stay onsite but im gonna be going alone and knowing that I could have gotten like 4 nights at the howard johnson less than a mile away for the same price for one night at a universal resort. What are your suggestions...

^ If you can make use of the unlimited Universal Express pass (read: if you are going during a busy season) it's worth it. But if you are going during a non-peak time and you're on your own, stay at the HoJos!

Thanks for replying, im going the first week of OCT and I have been before and it was not busy at all. Im talking about both parks in the same day by 4pm. I stayed at the hojo last time but I was wondering if I would benefit from staying onsite but I guess I maybe at the HOJO unless someone comes up w/ a good reason to stay onsite!

Apart from not having to worry about driving after a night of Margaritaville and Pat O Briens (mmmm...the non-lethal kind of Hurricanes), FOTL is the only major reason to stay onsite.

The resorts are gorgeous. There's no denying that. But for the rates they charge (I can't even find a decent AP discount anymore), staying there is an unnecessary luxury. Loews has been especially tight in the last year or two as far as how much discounts they let go. They've priced themselves right out of my range.

Stick with the Hojo (me - I use the Motel 6 over by Old Town - $35 a night and within walking distance of the delicious cheese curds at the A&W restaurant).

I'm glad to hear that, I myself will be there first week of Nov and debated forking out for the on site hotels myself. In the end I sacrificed those for a nice property down at WDW after I leave Universal.

We're staying at the Clarion Universal... anyone have some thoughts on that place?

Jarmor, if you are travelling solo, you will be able to cut line anyway (if the single-rider line is open. I have been there in early October before and easily did both parks in one day.

Stick with the cheap motels.

The twin Radissons across the street (literally) were more than decent last time I was at IOA. I've stayed at the Portofino Bay....it's really pretty...but you're not there to spend time with all of the pretty amenities the hotel has to offer. Find an inexpensive hotel and spend the rest on "fun." 8)

Oh...I know all about going to both parks in one day in the first week of october! Thats why I decided to do it again and hit up HHN at the same time. I just didn't know if I should stay or not onsite...But from the way it looks and sounds im going back to the hojo lol lol. They seem to have round the clock shuttles and even transportation from HHN at nights too!
