gisco Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Article Three high school students were injured after a packed ferris wheel collapsed at a carnival in Puncak, Jambi, on Monday, according to Antara reports. The ferris wheel was off-balance Monday night when, 20 minutes after it began operating, the ride separated from its axel and collapsed to the ground, said Indro Budi, the carnival’s owner. The ride was packed with 28 passengers at the time of the accident, according to reports on the local news website MetroJambi.com. “The ferris wheel had 14 cars, which were all fully loaded,” Jelutung police chief Adj. Comr. Bastari Yusuf told MetroJambi.com. “There were 28 passengers.” The three high schoolers — Gaisar Mukras, Sela Pratiwi and Indri Margantari — were taken to Bratanata hospital. They all suffered cuts to their arms and legs. Indri, the worst injured of the group, needed 25 stitches to close a gash on her right leg. Indro offered to cover the passengers’ medical bills. The carnival was uninsured at the time of the accident. The Jambi Police shut the carnival down to conduct an investigation into the accident.
cfc Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Geez, Bob--between this story and the Adventure City accident, you are a Prophet of Doom! This carnival is lucky that no one was killed.
beatle11 Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Pretty remarkable that the worst injury was a gash on someone's leg.
disownedpear Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I'm amazed that only three people got injured
