I305KD Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Hi. I'm visiting Hersheypark tomorrow night and Monday. I was there back in April while Skyrush was closed. How is the park with Skyrush open? Should I ride it first thing in the morning or wait until everyone is at the waterpark?
molemaster43 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Well, we didn't go on a Monday, but when we went, everybody immediately went to the Hollow, leaving Midway America empty. If you are going at opening, you should easily get walk-ons for Wildcat, Lightning Racer, and Wild Mouse. I think the lines for Skyrush, Sooperdooperlooper, and Comet all calmed down at around 4-5 pm, from a 2 hr. wait to about a 15-30 min wait.
A.J. Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I would totally start all the way in the back of the park and gradually move toward the Hollow. You can get your rides in on the wooden coasters and Wild Mouse and get some time in at the Boardwalk, then start moving toward Pioneer Frontier, then Minetown, and eventually the Hollow. Alternatively, on your way to the back of the park at the beginning of the day, you could stop at Fahrenheit and take a spin.
I305KD Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Thanks for the help guys! We don't plan on heading to the water park this year. It's always packed. Do you think the lines are bad at around 7 or 8? Because we are going to go for the preview night.
A.J. Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Remember that you're not allowed into the park for the preview plan until 7:30, because the park closes at 10 on Sundays. As for queues - if it's any consolation, I was able to do Sooperdooperlooper once, Wildcat once, and Lightning Racer four times in just over an hour on the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend.
I305KD Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Wow! That sounds really promising. We haven't done the preview night since 2008. We got on everything except Sidewinder, Lightning Racer, and Wildcat.
SharkTums Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 The advice I always give... If it's important to you, ride it right away. You never know what could happen throughout the day...weather, mechanical, etc.
I305KD Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Thanks! My idea is ride Skyrush during the preview night. To get it over with.
caffeine_demon Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Thanks! My idea is ride Skyrush during the preview night. To get it over with. You make it sound like some sort of punishment!
I305KD Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Thank you guys for the help! I had a great time. We arrived at 4:30 on the first day and got 2 day passes. I rode Skyrush 3 times that night. And almost everything. The lap bars hurt though. It's my 2nd favorite coaster between Intimidator 305 and SFNE's Bizarro. Thanks again! You guys helped alot!
