jedimaster1227
Back in July I had the opportunity to attend the announcement ceremony for the first ever Dreamworks Experience coming to the Gaylord Palms Resort (as well as other Gaylord properties across the country). While not a particular fan of any of the Dreamworks franchises, I found the move to be a wise one, considering the power of these characters, especially with families. Much like with what I found during my cruise on the Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas this October, the Dreamworks experience can truly be molded to just about anything and draw a crowd, and the Dreamworks Experience at the Gaylord Palms is no exception. Having been to ICE! several times in the past, I thought I knew what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the holiday offerings have been expanded significantly to include more than just the ICE! and SNOW! options that had been at the property previously.Taking pages from previous events, recent staples such as ICE!, SNOW! and the Sylvania atrium lights and Christmas tree have been updated to reflect the larger holiday event. New shows have been added to the atrium stage (with some serious theatrical forte and value) and the lights have been upgraded to include more colors, more dancing and synchronization to the shows on the stage. Even better, the "Christmas Holiday Hall" has become the hub for the special Dreamworks offerings. These include ICE!: Shrek the Halls, Gingy's Gingerbread Decorating, a Puss in Boots 3D movie theater, an expanded gift shop, Kung Fu Panda: Awesome Snow, the DreamWorks Experience Meet & Greets and a photo purchasing area. It all just works really well! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=ICE_1ilm[/coastertube] The facade for this year's entrance to ICE! was very well done! The entire exhibit has been based on the popular holiday short of the same name. Such a wise guy... I'm so excited to be here! Or maybe I was just happy to see this! The detail in the ice is extremely impressive. I knew I had a talent in life. I just didn't think this was one of them. The set pieces are pretty large throughout the exhibit hall. Though I never saw Shrek the Halls, this supposedly follows the storyline to a T. Clever. Her candy cares are actually snakes. Shrek was clearly confused as to why I took this photo. Possum! Lunch at work! I couldn't contain myself. (Please note: I am not actually sitting on this ice, as that would be breaking the rules.) Lots of little details. Alien children. Once again, I took the tunnel! The size of the sculptures is truly astounding. Meet my wife. Moving right along... Name the reference: "Hey there missy! How 'bout a bear hug?" Gremlin! Irony. An overview of this year's ice slide room. This photo is meant to illustrate two things: 1. You can see my breath. 2. I have large sideburns. I'm excited for the loop! Pop! Zoom! Straight to New Moon! I like ice slides. I'm a little tea pot? I have a feeling I'm starting to lose your interest... So I'll start to wrap this thing up. This sculpture is brought back each year... Same. *Insert Dragonball Z-esque power blast* Didn't pay extra to do Snow, considering I'm going skiing later this year, but it is a nice concept for those that don't have easy access to cold weather or have never seen snow. Here's where the real fun begins! Seriously some of the most fun character's I've ever taken photos with! One second we're friends... Another, it's Mortal Kombat all up in here! Another cool cat. The setup in the hotel's atrium was amazing this year! Luminescence was the holiday show, but had some serious theatrical firepower. The entire ensemble was extremely talented and performed very well as a group. East side! West side! Let's rock! I spy LEDs! Airborne drummers make any show 150% better! If this doesn't illustrate the scale of this show, I don't know what will! Hi Dave! TPR Turtle Fancy Fulfilled! Thanks for reading! printersdevil78
Awesome! It looks like the Palms had a little more to its Dreamworks Experience than the National did. The Ice exhibit there this year was "Merry Madagascar." When I finally get around to posting photos, we can compare and contrast!
SharkTums
^I prefer Madagascar to Shrek, so hopefully we'll see these properties rotate around and all get a chance to see them over the years.
