shellymeister Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Hi Y'all ! Just returned from 2 weeks in the Far East (Visited the Expo 2005 (World's Fair) in Aichi, Japan as well, if anyone is interested in some info & impressions from that experience...) I will be forced to write this TR in segments because I've got to catch up on so much work. I was able to land 3 tickets to what was billed as Charity Day (8/5/05) at HK Disney. The park was fully operational and apparently has been for a couple of weeks. According to new reports in HK we were expecting a modestly big crowd of about 15,000, but what we experienced was closer to about 28,000. We arrived at the park, like most visitors, by the MTR connecting to the Disney Resort Line at Sunny Bay station. Enough has been written and posted about this new train line, that I don't think I need to elaborate. The new trains are beautiful and very similar to the Monorail trains at the Tokyo Resort, but I believe these new HK trains are larger and have more capacity. My only criticism of the new train would be concerning the A/C system which could not handle the combination of HK summer heat and overwhelming crowds. The train drops you off in a plaza with a modest (maybe 600-750') walk to the fountain featuring Mickey balancing above the whale from Pinnocchio. The fountain also features smaller scultures of other Disney characters. This fountain is really eye-arresting and really comes to life at night when the walk lights dim and a musical/dancing waters/lights shoiw begins in the fountain, using well-known Disney tunes. Great sound system, and effects, and a great way to to put a really nice cap on a day at HK Disney.
PhishyBrewer Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Pictures? Please say you took pictures.
shellymeister Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 They were limited severely by the massive crowds that blocked most good picture spots.
COOOOLkid Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 haha I can imagine how long the line would be to just take the pictures with Mickey and poo.
