Skyscraper
Hi ! I'm planning to visit SFMM on August 31st which is a wednesday. I'm sleeping at the Westin Bonaventure in Downtown L.A. and I was wondering how early should I leave the hotel to get to SFMM at about 10AM (30minutes before the opening)... Any idea how the traffic will be ? Thanks... Ohh... and I'm pretty sure it will be a low attendance day right ? Late august... Should I hit X2 and Tatsu first or Green lantern is so popular that it now needs to be the first ride of the day ? Thanks you very much !
Sir Clinksalot
I would leave your hotel no later than 8:00 - 8:30. If you are a bit early, no problem. But if you leave that early you won't be late barring any major accidents on the freeway. A good portion of the the traffic "should" be going the opposite direction. As far as attendance, most schools are back in session that day, LAUSD is still out until the 7th of September (I believe) but you should probably be ok. RabidMonkey
How fast do you plan on driving? Traffic will be going in the opposite direction so not much to worry about. I live about 12 miles south of downtown and I get to SFMM in about 45 minutes average. Then again I'm going 80 most of the way and hit 90 in some spots. There's usually traffic where the 5 and 14 meets but that's pretty much expected. There's light construction going on there right now and stupid people get into accidents. Skyscraper
Thanks guys ! Well I think i'll leave the hotel around 8am ( I don't drive at 90! lol) and If i'm too early at SFMM, I'll just have a breakfast somewhere in Valencia... Can't wait to try Green Lantern and Terminator !!

Skyscraper
Any great places for breakfast around SFMM ? Should I hit Green Lantern first or go to X2, Tatsu and then Green Lantern ? Thanks !
Sir Clinksalot
^ I know there is a Denny's and an Ihop a couple exits before the park (Lyons exit), there is also Marie Calendars right across the street from the park (on the right when you get off the freeway towards the park). The one near us has decent breakfast. I haven't been to the park since Green Lantern press day so I'm not sure of the current crowd flow of the park. You can use the GL "secret single rider" line. Just go up the exit and tell them you are a single. I've heard it works.
SharkTums
^^If you're up for a greasy local Californian breakfast I would recommend Jimmy Deans. It's just past the entrance to the park on The Old Road and has some amazing giant breakfasts. Nothing gourmet, but greasy awesomeness!!!!
Sir Clinksalot
^ Totally forgot about Jimmy Deans. I love that place.
PeoplemoverMatt
Yeah, Jimmy Deans has greasy awesome giant breakfasts. But if you're looking for GREASY...go to the Saugus Cafe! It's really local. Head down Magic Mountain Parkway until it ends, and make a right. Saugus Cafe will be right there on the right. It's about a 7 minute drive off the I-5. simon8899
I still remember driving from Queen Mary in Long Beach at 7am and I arrived around 10:10am at SFMM - engine off on the parking lot - luckily I purchased all tickets online.... Most horrible traffic-jam was before the highway junction of I-405 and I-10 that day....stood there over an hour as two lanes were blocked due to a minor accident.
