Sure it's overboard, but theme park guests are idiots and are incapable of ensuring their own safety.

Especially when many of them can't even find a restroom even though they're standing in front of one.

Can you imagine what a headache it is for a park to protect itself legally. I mean the playing field isn't fair. Get hurt at the park and don't know what to do? Just ask gary and freakin gary will get you an attorney and a doctor. That's fair.

I don't think it's idiocy as much as laziness. People nowadays, when they go to these types of places, they want to think as little as possible, and they expect everything to be done and pointed out for them.

And this is one of the many reasons why I like ERT The operators know we are not stupid so the dispatches are much shorter.

And I have to say, I think the longest dispatch I have seen was on Kraken. Busch parks seem to take a very long time.

Longest dispatch time: Deja vu, first time opening for the 2011 season. They had two ops in the station. One per side then they switched off for who would have to go in the control area. Nightmare!! At least one more would have made the dispatches not eight minutes...

I always thought we did a good job when I was at Dollywood, our throughput on Tennessee Tornado was often higher than the other coasters in the park despite the fact they have more guest traffic and often more capacity.

I can vouch that people can be stupid and that has alot to do with it, but it also has to do with the type of ride it is, the conditions of the day, etc. For example, on a slow day we could get by with 3 Attendants + 1 Breaker who would relieve the others at any one time, this would go down to 3 Attendants during the last hour of operation. There is no way to run two trains with this amount of staffing. On the other hand, If it's a busy day, it requires a minimum of 4 Attendants + 2 Breakers.

Typically, unloading is the side of the train that needs the most supervision... as those attendants must collect loose articles, which the park REALLY clamped down on the year I was there... slowing down things even more. Don't argue with the attendant and hand it over.. no, you can't put it between your legs, down your shirt, etc...
