Photo TR - Cedar Point 2011 - Worst. Opening Day. Ever.

What is sad is that after being a pass holder for almost 20 years...I never saw that original Ocean Motion sign. So to me, that was a failure of a sign if I never saw it. I like how they stylized the font to create a wave under the name. Thats tasteful and classy artistic freedom.

What really was bothersome to me was that yesterday the handful of open rides were all running one-train operations. Now, I have absolutely no idea if this was a result of the nonstop rain we've had since April which resulted in slowing things down in terms of getting the crews ready and the rides up to capacity for the weekend or if this is typical for opening weekend, but I have NEVER seen CP's coasters run one-train operations. Even Corkscrew usually has two trains running even if there is no lines. I do understand that it's (obviously) extremely early in the season and it'll take time for everyone to get their sea legs (hopefully this blasted rain will finally leave by the end of the month!), so I'm trying not to complain too much at this point!

Ocean Motion does look great in its new spot. And in other news, I had what was quite possibly my best ride on Mantis ever. I usually despise it, but this time it was actually tolerable for me. Very fast and intense.

Sorry to hear the day was bad for you, but I have read a lot of reports on here about all kinds of different parks all sucking on opening day. Note to self...don't go to theme parks on opening day - especially when you have a really crappy winter and it rains every effing day in the spring!!!!

I apologize for responding to my own quote, but I forgot to mention that I have learned my lesson about going to CP in May. Four years in a row we went and it rained every single time....and I do seem to remember some of the coasters only having one train operations even when it wasn't raining.

This year is going back to the "typical" weather in the Northeast in May...RAIN...and lot's of it. Couple that with the parks in the Northeast working out the kinks and I'm fine with waiting another month before visiting. I have been to CP a couple times in June and early July (crowds were not bad at all) and never had any problems with coasters, rides, lines or the employees.

Oh...and the forecast for this week? 40% chance (or higher) of rain every day till Saturday. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I wouldn't expect a whole lot of progress at any amusement parks in the Northeast next weekend.

I almost rode it...it looked like it was running well. I just hate that since forever, its one train op. Ill prolly try out Mantis later. Mantis always gives great pictures too.

I always enjoy a ride on Mantis. It gets way to much hate, in my opinion. It always has a decent line, so I assume many others feel the same way I do. I have rode many stand-ups and the only one that I think is better is Riddlers Revenge, which to me, to me is the best ride at SFMM.

I had some smooth rides on Mantis last year and really enjoyed it without the trim on the drop. I may even try riding in the back versus the front this year if I get bold enough...although we may have to first stop at the Red Garter Saloon for a Lake Erie brew or two!

I'm still a little leary about Mean Streak being better this year, although if they have also turned off the trim on the first drop, I would definitely consider a front seat ride. They should just run it without any trims this year...beat the hell out of it before it gets that Rocky Mountain treatment!

We can only hope...

I still say tear it all down, have one massive party/bonfire and then build a Gravity Group twister with the Timberliners.

But the GP would still consider it a wooden coaster even if they Iron Horsed it, so no loss there. I just would have to bite my tongue a little harder while waiting in line haha.
