Denmark / Holand / German Park ?

I am looking to arrange a short break in Denmark, Holland or Germany and visit 1 or 2 parks over a few day.

 

I will be travelling with my 2 children (Ages 7 & 4), over 1.20m & 1.00m, and was wondering what parks are likely to be the best for my family, given both are quite young / small but both enjoy 'family rollercoasters', especially the 7 year old (eg Vampire @ Chessington / Ben10 @ Drayton Manor / Big Dipper & Grand National @ Blackpool).

 

Can anyone offer advice on what is likely to be most suitable out of;

 

Europa park (Germany)

Efteling (Holland)

Bon Bon Land (Denmark)

Nigloland (France)

 

or possibly others in that area that i hadnt considered.

Both Efteling and Europa Park are great parks - but maybe not with too much for a 4 year old - but definitely worth a visit.

If you want to go to Denmark, why not try LEGOLAND Billund, that is perfect for children of that age.

Europa Park is always a nice visit - do it before July as holiday season starts then.

 

Danish parks all have fun also for small children. But if you go as far as BonBon land you could add 100 kilometers (45 minutes on danish rail) and go to Copenhagen for Tivoli and Bakken.

 

On a second thought how about this kind of tour for August:

 

Start in Hamburg with the Sommerdom (summer carnival) most likely featuring a Schwarzkopf looper and the enclosed spinner "Höllenblitz". Then hop onto the train for Lübeck - don't forget the famous marcipane - and head for Hansapark, they've much fun and rides for the little ones plus a Schwarzkopf Loopingracer and a Gerstelauer Eurofighter. Take the Vogelfluglinie (this would translate as "bird-migration-line", most exciting for kids is the fact that the express train is loaded onto the ferry to traverse the baltic sea) to Denmark and visit BonBonLand (having another Eurofighter plus a Huss Giant-Frisbee) on the way to Copenhagen, were you can finish off with Tivoli Gardens and Bakken - the first having the landmark Rutschebanen, a 1914 side-friction / breakman woodie and a hot B&M floorless - the second also featuring a 1920s side-friction coaster with new KumBak-trains.

My first thoughts were to go to Europa park & Nigloland. I had forgotten about Legoland in Denmark (perhaps becuase we have been to the legoland in England and was not overly impressed, long waiting times and limited amount of small / medium sized coasters), but i will look into the Danish version as there might be more there?

 

I had not heard about Hansapark, and from their website and the review on here it does sound as if it could be ideal for adventurous 4 & 7 year olds. Thanks for tellng me about this, it would certainly fit in nicely as the flights from Stansted to Lubeck are quite a good price at the moment aswell. The train on the boat sounds as if it could cause some excitetment for younger children also.

Legoland in Denmark is a nicely themed park but IMHO lost some of its appeal after Lego sold the amusement parks to Madame Tussauds group. Thats also true for lower-saxonias Heide-Park - you see that the old owners were kind of enthusiasts, whereby Madame Tussauds is more geared to squeeze money. General Legoland Denmark also features kiddie and family rides only. If you go up there by car on the Freeway 7 you can drop into Sommerland Syd right behind the german-danish border - mostly also a kiddie-park, but one with a Vekoma Invertigo - mostly queues on that one are so short they only roll it once every 15 minutes - but you can ride it every time.

 

Hansapark is still family owned and therefore has IMO a nice feel to it.

Just to give a plug for the Netherlands, there are many excellent childrens' parks within a few hours drive of each other. Aside from the world-class Efteling are Duinrell, Drievliet, Hellendoorn, Koningin Juliana Toren, Slagharen, BillyBird Park Helmelrijk, Speelstad Oranje, Duinen Zathe, and Drouwenerzand. All of these have children as main target market. These are the one's I've been to and there are some others that I haven't yet been to, namely De Valkenier and DippieDoe.

Efteling isnt in Holland, but in the Netherlands

They have a big fairytale forrest, where you can tell the tales to the children. Especially the 4 year old.

Efteling has a few familycoasters, but no kiddycoasters. They have three darkrides.

They're a bit far apart but my favorites for that age children would be Hansa or Europa.

 

Europa's height restrictions are a bit high on the coasters, but there are still tons of things to do. Hansa has really great height restrictions and just blows me away everytime we go.

 

Efteling is a little to passive for me and KT. Niglo didn't strike me as a place I'd like to return to. Bon Bon is a lot of fun but smaller than Europa and Hansa.

 

Like someone else mentioned a nice weekend could be Bakken, Tivoli and Bon Bon. That would be great for the kids!

Thanks for the advice, looks like i need to plan another theme park break for later in the year to visit Holland & Europa, after our Hansa / Eastern Denmark trip.
