wildwood Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Anyone and everyone. We are close to saving this classic ride in Wildwood NJ. If you could go to www.moreyspiers.com and click on the save the golden nugget ride. For those that don't know the ride it was built in the 1960's by PTC. It is an indoor rollercoaster filled with all kinds of cool things that you would find in a darkride. It is so cool. It has been closed for about 8 years now and talks are to move it to the next ride pier and re-open it next year after re-furbishing. Please help Thanks
DerekRx Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 ^Nor do I. How can I save it if I can't see it!
Sir Clinksalot Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I'm with ^ and ^^ ... didn't see anything ... but heard some annoying music that I had to turn of REALLY quick ...
YoshiFan Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 http://www.moreyspiers.com/ticker.php?id=34 Direct Link. I have had that Wildwood song stuck in my head a few times before.
CoasterJunkie Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 This was an awesome ride back in the day. It used to be on the old Hunt Pier. I just dont think it will be a viable option to move this ride to another pier. The cost for one thing is going to be VERY high. Second, there really isnt anywhere to put it. I would love to see it restored though
wildwood Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 The ride is supposed to be moved at the end of the season and moved on to mariers landing pier. It is going where Rollie's Coaster currently is. There was a big article in the New Jersery newspaper "Shout" back in July with the plans. The only question is if Morey's will do it or not. Jack Morey wants to but one of the brothers don't..... They will be moving the ride in whole by cutting the boardwalk around it and putting it on some type of lift that will be on a train track type thing that will take it and life it onto its new home. Anyway when you go to Morey's website on the news section which is on the right hand side the do you want to see the Golden Nugget run again appears. you might have to watch some other messages but they do go fast. Thanks again
YoshiFan Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 That's one ride that I don't think will be missed. It's bad enough that it has OSTR's but the capacity looks to be horrible as well thanks to the cars only holding 4 people when I was there last week the line looked to be at least 20 minutes when the "better" coasters had less than 5 minute waits. I don't know if it would fit but if they keep it, they should put it on Wild Wheels Pier since now that Doo Wopper moved, that pier's only coaster is Great White.
CoasterJunkie Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 LOL...Rollies Coaster...LOL..Now that is one PAINFUL coaster. Golden Nugget is a piece of history. Just as Dracula's Castle was. But that was burned to the ground by 3 stupid teenagers looking for some fun. I would like to see it preserved, but not at such a high cost that the rest of the piers suffer more that what they already do. By chance, are you a Morey? Do you work for the Morey's?
