Hey there everyone. Well I finally decided to go to an art school for Video/Film Production and have an interview set up at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for later on in September.

I'm supposed to bring to the interview some "samples of my artwork". I have tons of videos that I have made, and I paint and take a lot of pictures... but obviously I want to focus on video and editing stuff to bring in.

Can I just put some short clips on a DVD and bring it in or what should I do?

Help!

Eric

Well when I went to my modeling interview, they simply said that they dont want me to put together a portfolio, more of a card.

On the front it would be you name, and the best picture. Then on the back details about yourself and 4 other pictures.

If you are going to do a DVD do sumthing short, under 5mins, they really dont wanna spend all day watching it.

Yeah I was thinking about having one movie (of course I'd post it on here for you to critique) like 2-3 minutes long and then have other really short clips of other stuff and paintings/pictures ive done on there too. I'm just confused on how long and if thats even a way to do a portfolio?!

^ I would recommend designing a promo for your video including a small blumb and some good quality stills. I don't really have any video in my portfolio, but I do have a decent bit of flash and treat it about the same way.

The easier you can make it for the people viewing, the more they will like it.

I actually designed 3 of the templates that the Art Institute uses for their websites.

Examples:

Design 1

http://www.ilic.artinstitutes.edu/index.asp?ref=1

http://www.ailv.artinstitutes.edu/index.asp?ref=1

All the menus and news tickers are in Flash with an XML backend so they easily change for each school
