Vekoma Fan Boy
This is an X-Car I've been messing around with for the past couple days. It started out as seeing what I could do with a Skyloop like drop, and it just evolved from there. Name: Infineon (In-FIN-e-on) Type: Maurer Sohne X-Car Height: 160 feet Speed: 70 MPH Length: TBD Inversions: 5 (Flying Snake Dive, Loop, Inclined Bow Tie) Trackwork: |----------|----------| 50% Supports: |-|-------------------| 5% Theming: |--------------------| 0% Onto the pictures! davisal771
Interesting project, It looks pretty cool. What are you planning on theming it as?
Vekoma Fan Boy
UPDATE: Finished the trackwork. New features include a station fly over/fly through, and a Zero-G roll, bringing the total inversion count to six. On to pics: Going up the 135* lift hill. First drop batshit insanity! Insanity POV! 70 MPH! Giant loop! Off the MCBR and into the station flyover. Roundy... Zero-G! And last but not least, an overview of the entire ride. Interesting project, It looks pretty cool. What are you planning on theming it as? I'm not quite planning to "Theme" it to anything. I will add theming such as a custom support station, CS parkpack stuff, and the like, but other than that its not really supposed to be themed like Dueling Dragons, or Hulk, or the like. Vekoma Fan Boy
Quick update.. supports going in! The lift was definitely one of the most interesting things I've had to support The ones on the lift pull up are definitely my favorite! And a little Bowtie love Comments/Criticism appreciated! jamesissoocool
Grrr you stole my snake dive inversion from my coaster, in the works .One note is that the supports on a coaster that high, in my opion would need more cross bracing. Looking at this x-coaster http://www.rcdb.com/3602.htm?p=25976 look how much cross bracing is used on a small coaster but then again it may be the forces it produces. Vekoma Fan Boy
^That has a lot of cross bracing for three reasons: 1. The forces exerted on the track by the train. 2. The track has a thin spine (Notice how I used a very thick spine for the lift hill) 3. The supports are also thin. (Again notice how I used thick supports on the lift) I think the lift is fine, I mean, look at SFOG's Goliath. (Thats actually what I used as a reference for placing the lift supports) I appreciate your input though. Also, I'm renaming the Bowtie a Theta Loop... I found this and thought it was absolutely hilarious!
davisal771
Support work looks great, however I'm not a huge fan of that color scheme.
Vekoma Fan Boy
^Thank you! And suggestions are welcome as for the color scheme. I kinda want to keep the orange track, but I'm open to anything.
davisal771
If you want to keep the orange track, I think that a dark purple or forest green would work well.
Vekoma Fan Boy
^mightbeawannabe actually suggested the purple to me earlier, and gave me an RGB code to try out. (Granted he called it a dark grey with a tinge of blue... Looks purple to me though ) And I'm pretty much in love with it! I also did a little support work on the loop, I'm not 100% sure I like them though, and I'd like opinions before I take the time to do the other side. Showing off the new color scheme (props to mightbeawannabe for the support color!) and the new loop supports. You get an idea of the train's color scheme from this one, not too sure on this either. Loop supports from another angle. Theta!
mightbeawannabe
I does look purple now that I'm awake! It looked bluer last night. I swear. About the loop supports, did you add bracing to the taller one? It's a definite improvement to the first version! And I see pavement!
jamesissoocool
This is looking to be very good, keep up the good work!
Vekoma Fan Boy
Thanks for the feedback guys! I finished the loop supports and started work on the station in sketchup (f**kup is more like it... ) Loop supports - I had to make the right (left) leg a little differently from all the others to clear the track going to the Zero-G roll. Shame I couldn't turn it into a headchopper like I was hoping. And the start of the station in sketchup, nothing special now, but It will be! (The station flythrough will be interesting to build...) mightbeawannabe
Is it dead or on hiatus?
Vekoma Fan Boy
^Haitus. Since school started I have very little time to work on it. Trust me, this thing will be done at some point or another.
