Kraken & Manta Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I love the idea! Great coaster, I only have one question, how can the coaster be vertical hour, and be two minutes long
braztaz Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 ^ That's a good question  But thanks both of you! I actually built the thing as a test (the second half of the ride was completely different, that included a dive loop and that's it. The current design is 1,000 feet longer) but when I saw that the first drop was 11ft feet, I had to do the Vertical Hour theming!  Myrtle Magic has gone through major expansion. A new interstate opened up near "Fang", so MM has gone through with making a new entrance on that side near the drop tower, hoping to collect more guests from the interstate and also more of a convenience to it's long-term guests. SCR24.BMP New parking lot added past "Patriot's Plunge". SCR26.BMP The second entrance. SCR27.BMP The second entrance plaza.  Also, word has it that MM is planning to build a resort hotel to go along with the park, much like how Holiday Thrills and Topsail Island have. More word on it coming soon!
braztaz Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Also, I'm thinking of making a separate topic for my parks- or at least Topsail Island, because I feel it deserves it's own thread. I don't know though...
djbrcace1234 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Make sure to put a fence near that parking lot. You wouldn't want Peeps to sneak in now, would you? Â The entrance plaza looks a little small and odd looking, but it may just be me. Â And for another topic, that is all up to you. Having it this way still organizes everything nicley.
braztaz Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 The entrance plaza urks me as well, but with space (including the next coaster) it's what it had to be. Here's some more photos on the udpating. I'm thinking about redoing the entire park with my newer skills, this and Holiday Thrills, but that may take a while. SCR29.BMP New building's added. SCR30.BMP The yellow building is a seafood restaurant, like the one found at Topsail. SCR31.BMP Full overview of the expansion. You can see the early construction on the brand new ride. What we know so far is that it is launched and will have a lot of speedy inversions close to the ground. If 8 cars will work correctly, expect the press release tonight!
braztaz Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 HOLIDAY THRILLS: Here are some of my ride's stats for future reference in the VirtuTPR thread. SCR37.BMP (A new lake has been added around the turn) SCR38.BMP SCR39.BMP SCR40.BMP Â MYRTLE MAGIC: SCR41.BMP SCR42.BMP SCR43.BMP Â Wait, what was that last one!? Myrtle Magic's brand new roller coaster? You bet! SCR44.BMP Make your way under the arch and into the queue for "Hornet"...the one of a kind, launched vertical drop coaster! SCR45.BMP The queue. SCR46.BMP Launch 95mph in 2.5 seconds and fly straight up 250ft in the air... SCR47.BMP The tallest coaster in the park, be held over your 200 foot drop....then freefall. SCR48.BMP You can see the trims on the bottom of the hill, reducing the speed by about 15mph. SCR49.BMP After the cobra roll, speed through one of the fastest zero-g rolls ever built! SCR50.BMP Immelman! SCR53.BMP After your journey of fast, quick twisties and inversions....you get an airtime pop as you helix into the splashdown brake run. SCR51.BMP Overview. SCR54.BMP As you drive into the second entrance's parking lot, you get to see this breathtaking structure conuer the skyline at Myrtle Magic. Be sure to come by next season and ride "Hornet"...the 250ft launched Vertical Drop coaster!
braztaz Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Wow, three posts in a row I guess I'm updating too much. Â But here's a map I made of Myrtle Magic, showing us the 9 roller coasters (including Hornet) and the themed area of the park. completed map.bmp
Coupon Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Hornet's cobra roll looks painful, you should raise it up. Lightwave's turn right after the drop would also be painful, a bigger turn would help.
braztaz Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Hornet's cobra roll looks painful, you should raise it up. Lightwave's turn right after the drop would also be painful, a bigger turn would help. Â As for Hornet, there are brakes at the bottom of the first drop that reduce the speed from 80 to 67mph. The train actually barely makes it through. Â And you're right about ightwave, I've had a love-hate relationship with the ride
Coupon Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 For the cobra roll why not use the big half loops?
braztaz Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Well then that would make it about the size of the immelman later on in the ride...so if the cobra roll were the same height, I'd have to modify the speed to make it, well bearable, and then the train wouldn't make it over the immelman. Besides, I like the Quarter-Loop Cobra Rolls a bit more- I've been using them a lot.
djbrcace1234 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I understand for varience in hieght because having same height inversions in real life is just unrealistic. Â Although weird to look at, it's still a nifty concept, so kudos!
braztaz Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 ^Thanks! Â For now, I have builder's block. I'm trying to come up with new rides that have never been done before, while also trying to keep all the rides different for all three of my parks, which isn't an easy task to do. I still have some space avalible at Holiday Thrills, behind Bolt. Topsail and Myrtle Magic still have tons of space, but I just don't know what to fill it with!
djbrcace1234 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 You're not the only one, Braztaz. I would work on the infrastructure, such as the buildings, the terrain, anything that gets you building as it is an open door to possibility as well. Â Just a thought. A park is not made up by just coasters, sure, that's what draws the crowds, but what some parks lack now adays is that charm. Really try and make a nice main street in all your parks because it will be a benefit in the end, I think, at least.
braztaz Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 That's what I've been doing to Myrtle Magic, making the atmosphere better...but it doesn't go good with a timeline, like "new this year; more buildings!" Â So I think I'm going to drop the timeline for now. , if that's okay.
CoasterCreator9 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 An LIM launch like that is a bit of a stretch, though it's a cool concept.
braztaz Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 An LIM launch like that is a bit of a stretch, though it's a cool concept. Â I was kind of thinking in my head that it's a launch added on by a third party, that isn't LIM Launched. Mostly because B&M still won't consider doing a launch on their own.
braztaz Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 Also, here is what I've been working on: SCR60.BMP This is near the entrance to Lightwave, and also the first entrance. SCR61.BMP The original entrance plaza.
CoasterCreator9 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I'd put some fences around those gardens in that last picture, overall, rather nice!
braztaz Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 TOPSAIL ISLAND: Â This year again came many major expansions. Â NEW ADDITIONS: Stadium for concerts B&M Prototype: Suspended Swinger! Rapids Ride Tanning Time! Â SCR72.BMP Overview of the park with the new expansions! SCR67.BMP A plaza with an arcade and souvenir shops, and a new stadium for concerts! Â SCR71.BMP Here, guests will be able to get their tan on and just relax in the sun; it's like a mini-beach! Beach Burgers are held in the concession building to the top of the picture. Â Â SCR74.BMP "Red Rock!" is B&M's take on the classic Arrow suspended coaster. It's time to dive into a new age of suspended coasters; B&M has designed their own prototype for the beloved style, which will first appear at Topsail Island. Â SCR66.BMP A train in the middle of it's journey; a train about the begin! We hope this will please a whole new generation of coaster enthusiasts. Â SCR70.BMP "Ocean Rapids" will get you soaked! And most importantly- cooled off. Â All new this season at Topsail Island in Lake Erie, PA. Â We are also pleased to announce that Topsail has increased the local economy tremendously- hundreds of new tourists every day! Â With high-quality food, 5-star hotels, awesome shows, majestic rides, beautiful scenery and more....Topsail is sure to be a favorite for many families, as it pleases all ages. Come give us a visit!
djbrcace1234 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 The B M Suspender feels too much like an arrow. (not because of the train.) Â At least put batruns on this. Sure, the suspender cars don't make bank turns, but the fact they swing it would look like they are still banking. Just a thought. Â Maybe try and enclose the stage a little bit more as it just seems to bare on the sides. Â Great update, though.
braztaz Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 Thanks! Â I used the Inverted Coaster track for this a put suspended swinger trains on it. I was thinking about the banked turns- but I didn't want to stray too much away from the original concept. SCR65.BMP Here's the B&M Invert track next to the original Arrow track. After some observations I realized it was much different!
djbrcace1234 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Well, even in real life, Suspenders have bank turns to adjust for the lateral G's. Â Just saying. I rather see this a sucsess rather than Aroow's debut of The Bat.
braztaz Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 Alright, I put some banked turns in. What do you think? SCR75.BMP SCR76.BMP
