thrillrider
Well, another weekend, another park(s). This weekend I decided to hit up six flags over Georgia and get parking put onto my pass since it was not available when I bought my pass last year....Oh, and to hit some coasters as well. This was my 3rd visit to this park, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. They have a great collection of coasters, and I almost forgot how much fun mindbender was. This was the first time I have been back since the flood last year, and mindbender was closed on that day. It's been probaly 15 years since I have ridden mindbender, and I think my spine is still compressed. After a day and a half at six flags, we went to lake winni(I don't know how to say or spell the rest of the name). It's a cute little park with a really nice and well taken care of PTC coaster. They also have the craziest wild mouse coaster I have ever been on.I was tossed around like a rag doll. They also have the worlds most ghetto dark ride, and a very interesting boat flume ride. Enjoy the pictures. Ok. I was sitting at home watching tv trying to decide what to do for the holiday weekend. There was the typical stuff on animal planet, but I wanted to get out and ride some coasters. So off I went. No trip down south is complete without a stop at skyline chili. I swear, this stuff has crack in it. I know I am getting close.... Lookie what I see!!! Goliaths helix of death greets the ariving guests. It's true. The park really is a lot cleaner than it used to be. The view from my parking spot. Here is the "premium" parking section. It was just as empty as this when I left the park. Really....$25 to park a hundred feet closer? God bless the parking tram. I wish more of the bigger parks had them. Goliath. Got a quick shot of scorcher on the way in. Remember when I said that the parks "are" much cleaner? Well this is just one of the reasons why. The supervisers walk around with garbage pinchers(not sure what you call them) and pick up trash while walking around. Goliath entering the helix. This years prices. The main gate. This is what you see when you enter the park. They have a nice area set up with a timeline of the park. Airtime galore. I better hurry and ride....theres a stom a brewing! The parks stand up coaster. This years prices. Not too bad, but still cheaper than cedar (un)fair prices. You can take a helicoptor ride......but not today. Off to gothum city first. The parks swing ride. One of the best coasters in the south. The station. Getting close... Yuck!!...they had one of those wrap things on the train. Thank goodness the other train is still normal. Green track yummieness. I see you!! Batman was just insane. I had no feeling left in my feet after riding. This is probaly the loudest batmans I have been on as well. Great ride. I don't know what is funnier....the guy and his silly hair, or the fact that you save a whopping 5% on your $30 hat? Ok....I was really in the mood for tacos, and one would think that a mexican food stand with a huge taco on it would have them......wrong. No tacos here. Monster mansion looks great after the refurb they did a few years ago. A new papa johns pizza place was under construction. When I was in the park last year, this section of the park was closed due to flooding. This was all under water last time. The entrance to thunder river. Not a bad deal if you break it down. Everyone gets there own pizza, salad, breadsticks, and drinks. Comes out to $10 a person. Or if you use the $10 off coupon in your season pass book, it's even cheaper. Thomas was another section that was under water last time I was here. Train station. A great deal if you want to carry it around with you all day. Ninja from accross the lake. I love it!! Ninja lift hill porn. Do I really want to take a beating today? Great american scream machine looks like it got a new coat of paint. Station shot. It has a wonderfull looking station. The trip to the lift. It really is a great ride. This time it was a little on the ruff side, but still a lot of fun. Awaiting my ride. Lots of airtime to be had on these hills. Skull island water play structure. Superman flying coaster. It's a fun ride, but this has to be the slowest crew in the park. It should not take 9 min to dispatch a train. Half the trains they were sending out were half empty. They were not even trying to fill the trains. As a result, the line was very long and boring... The mine ride from accross the way. I did not get this credit on this trip. Canyon blaster coaster. A great looking theater. If the show would have been anything but country music, I would have checked it out. The glad hatter??? This sign is just freaky. The mine train coaster. I guess this ride makes people happy. AracnaIambrokefobia. My last ride of the day at six flags. I got a kick out of this. So if someone cuts in line, it's your responsability to call and report it? Nerd shot. Last year, this was a fairly smooth ride. I am not sure what happend, but it was pretty ruff this time around. Six flags over San quinten(sp). I took the tunnel!!!! Not sure what to say..... A picture of the park map. All the parks seem to be jumping on the bbq bandwagon this year. Smoking areas. On my way out of the park, I snapped a few pictures..... It's too bad I had to leave early to make it to the next park, because it looks like they have a circus show at six flags this year. Oh well....on to lake winnie. One last look at batman. Edited June 2, 2010 by thrillrider
nitrofan
Cool TR! Last year when I was at SFOG, there was tons of line jumping at Goliath and someone around us called the security number. They showed them who the line jumpers were, and the line-jumpers denied that they cut in line. The security guy said he can't do anything to them unless a park employee sees them cut or they admit to line jumping, so it's a pretty worthless system. thrillrider
Ok...On to lake winnie. It was a short 1.5 hour drive to lake winnie from six flags. All in all, lake winnie is a nice little park. They had these band organs all over the park that were a little freaky. It was like a scene from the twilight zone. This park has a wooden PTC coaster called the cannonball, and a wild mouse coaster as well. Lake...insert long name here.. The first ride you see as you enter the park. It's like a pissed off fish version of a spider ride. Train ride that I did not get to ride. The park map. Jumbo. Genie. The slide and tilt a whirl. They had these all over the park. Prices. Random ride. Looking down the midway. Ok....at this point it was getting a little weird. Since there was a rain storm, I decided to check out the dark ride. So with tickets in hand, off I went to ride. Ok...It was dark, there was a bird, a tunnle, and a loud horn. I don't know what else to say. The wild mose coaster. It was broke, so I would have to come back in a little while to get this credit. See...broke. On to the cannonball coaster. Noted... A very well taken care of ride. Station shot. I love a coaster that still has skid brakes. And hand levers. Lift hill. The trip to the lift. Station shot. Yep....definatly in the south. Bumper cars....or.... Greenhouse. You decide. I did not have time to ride this. I have always wanted to ride one of these. Looks like I will have to wait even longer...it was broke. Cannonball lift shot. I am speechless.... Looking accross the lake at the boat chute ride. They had one of these coasters as well. The cannonballs layout. One of the spin and hurls. The side of the lift. Mouse lift hill shot. Ride vehicle. Pretty advanced for a mouse coaster. Wave swinger ride. The controles were in the center of the ride. Looking back down the midway. Ummmm...yea....ok. Ferris wheel. Flying bobs ride. The boat chute ride. Boat chute station. The boat. Splash!!! I am going to take the tunnel!!!! And keep taking it....... And keep taking it........ Untill you finaly reach the lift. Being a boat chute operator takes years of practice. Just the complex controles take months of training. Random kiddie ride. I love it that parks are getting the statex models. Who would have known.... And that's it from lake winnie. It's a great little park. Make sure you stop by if your in the area.
thrillrider
Here are a few shots from the trip back to Michigan. On my way home, there was an awsome sun set. There was also porn shops and churches right next to eachother. And a fireworks shop with a ferris wheel.

I really did not have a problem with line jumpers on this visit. I only had 1, and that was in line for superman. I also saw some moron jump the fence in line for superman just to pick up a couple of broken cell phones in a low zone.
bgwfreak777
They put the M&M's back on the steps. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! They weren't on there on 3/6. And yeah, I don't get the abandoned Ferris wheels on the side of the road either. They are eye catching though and I always would get excited until I realized the thing had no seats on it. leegilley
it's funny that you mention how slow the superman crew is, because they had the trophy for fastest crew when I was there last thursday, how they got it I have no clue. Mindbender probally has the fastest crew in the park, they were dispatching trains before the other even hit the brake run.
thrillrider
Mindbender was running on saturday and sunday with no issues that I could see. Yea, the superman crew was really slow. The 9 min it took to dispatch the train was just one train that I timed. I am sure it took longer than 9 min some of the time. The worst part was while waiting in line, watching the half empty trains go by while the line was not moving.
Midgetman82
I've been past that ferris wheel many times, I hate it! I'm going to SFOG in a couple of days, anything I should know? Is the best seat on Ninja the one that doesn't sit over a wheel in the last car?
thrillrider
I usually sit in the front seat, as I have long lags and there is more leg room in the front. I would suggest leaning forward, so your head does not bang on the harness as much. It's a brutal ride, there really is no way to ride it without getting banged up in some way. You can only minimize the beating by leaning forward. I would also recommend going to monster mansion first, as that line moves slow. It's also not a bad idea to get superman out of the way early as well because the line moves very slow and can get long. Have fun.
ArizonaGuy
Nice photo TR! Lot's of a great pics. I definitely want to go to SFoG sometime. As far as the random shots of the porno shops and the cross......is that north of Dayton headed toward Toledo? I could have sworn I just passed that last week driving back to Indy from Cedar Point. And I wonder...which came first??? The Porno or the Cross?
thrillrider
That picture was taken in Tennessee off of I-75. When I took this picture, I was going north, so the porn shop was before the church.
thrillrider
I forgot to add these. They had snipers in the parking lot. Gasm controle panal. Looking at supermans crotch. Monster mansion boat. Monster mansion scene. Goliath station. Sign. Cumfy seats. Transfer track area. Not quite sure whats going on in the stadium these days, but I think there was a batman show in here years ago. Shake, rattle and roll indoor scrambler. The lights went dim, but there really was not anything else happening. Ice bat!! The log ride. Here is the other ferris wheel. I am not sure why it's there, but here it is.
nitrofan
Wow, you got lucky with Goliath's line! I've had to wait through every single switchback they have set up on several occasions.
nursemelis374
This trip report brought back lots of good memories from the Deep South trip! I loved SFOG and Lake Winnie! I wish I could trade SFMM for SFOG!
Electerik
I really like Lake Winnie. And I encourage everyone who goes there to also check out Rock City, which is just a few miles down the road.
thrillrider
I actually went to ruby falls this year. Rock city was a blast when we went a few years ago. I would like to get back there. Here are a few shots of ruby falls at lookout mountain. Ruby falls at lookout mountain. The cave has gone hi tech since the last time I was there. They had lots of cool looking formations in the cave. Look...a TPR exlusive. And the beautiful waterfall. They are now using led lighting to iluminate the falls. It looks great. Behind the waterfall. Hungry anyone? Durring halloween time, they have a haunted cave walk thrue attraction. I really would like to come check it out.

Reon
First of all, props for the Skyline reference. As a Cincinnati resident, I'm proud to say I'm addicted to that delicious crack. Anyways, thanks for posting this PTR. I'll be making a road trip at the end of July/beginning of August, and the last leg/final turnaround will be SFOG/Lake Winnie. Do you have any tips aside from the obvious? I know the terrors of Superman fail from Chicago, but I'm willing to give this SUF a try if theres time... thrillrider
If your going during that time of year, you may want to look into getting a flash pass. Only other advice I can give is what I said above about what rides to hit first and the defensive riding posistion on ninja. Have fun. If you are planning on going to lake winnie, don't buy the wrist band if you plan on just hitting the coasters once. I bought $17 worth of tickets, and was able to do both coasters, the dark ride, and the boat chute. If your into the spin and hurls, or if you want to get more than 1 lap in on the coasters, then deffinatly get the wristband. Just be prepared to be delt a beating on the mouse coaster. It was crazy. Hope this helps you some.
thrillrider
I just added a P.O.V video of the monster mansion dark ride at six flags over georgia. Enjoy. thrillrider
The quality is not the best, the swamp area of the ride has a few dark areas. But for the most part, it is ok.
