la2lvtom Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Hey all, looking to visit Canada's Wonderland in August (before I head out to Tokyo in September) and was wondering is there a week in August that will be better to go than any other (planning on hitting the park on a Wednesday and Thursday)meaning less crowds/kids? Thanx in advance
Carnage Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Later in August might be a bit lighter crowds then early August. But you'll probably be looking at pretty decent sized crowds throughout the month.
la2lvtom Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 Man I've been looking for hotels by the park and there are none close and a rental car in Canada will cost over $200 for 2 days. I did a mapquest search of the area and it looks to be either residential or warehouseing all around the park. I want to visit the park cause I just got my passport and Carowinds platinum pass but I hope the park is worth the planning.
SharkTums Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Yeah most of the hotels are about 2 - 3 miles away if I recall. Perhaps you could just do a taxi? That would be cheaper than a $200 rental car.
dandaman Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Taxi service would likely be your best bet. Normally I'd recommend the GO Transit system between Toronto locations, but it seems like too short a distance for them to service. (Mind you, that's assuming you get a hotel close to the park.) As far as hotels, I'd recommend Monte Carlo Inn & Suites. Still a couple of miles from Wonderland, but it was quite a pleasant stay during Behemoth Bash... and as it turns out, it was the same hotel that TPR booked for their few busloads o' Bashers as well. Best of luck.
chemical_echo Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 If you stay at a hotel like Monte Carlo, you can just use the public transit system. The YRT's 20 Jane-Concord bus goes directly into Canada's Wonderland. Why pay $30 for a taxi when you can pay $3.25 for a bus?
