CoNNoR Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 hello i am making a trip report soon and i just wondered if any one had any advice on the pictures i should take and what captions i should use ?
andyuk200523 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 First things first, check the Park Index - see if there is anything they are missing from the park/parks you are going to! I usually try to make my captions mostly informative, but usually if I can think of something witty and definitely in line with the TPR Mantra, I go for that! Remember - just have fun at the park! Thats what Theme Park days are all about, it shouldn't be a job to remember everything you must do for your Trip Report! In my UK Tour, I spent the mornings wandering around riding all the rides, then went back to the car in the afternoon and grabbed the camera and walked around for a few hours taking pictures and usually the odd re-ride, I find this the best way of doing a Photo Day. Hope any of that helps you, I await reading your TR!
CoNNoR Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks For the advice and now i have just coned my mum to take the pictures as she doesn't like rides so she may as well take the photos and what i was thinking is that if i looked at the photos when i came home it will remind me of what a good day I've had and does Alton towers need any pictures apart from Th13teen
larrygator Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) First things first, check the Park Index - see if there is anything they are missing from the park/parks you are going to!) Awesome advice! Have a succinct introduction with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation before getting to the pictures. Don't post every picture you take, and only post unclear/unfocused pictures if you are showing something unique From here your PTR can take many forms. -Some people simply display the park (only works with great pictures) -Some people tell a story -Some people try to go for as many laughs as possible -If you plan on posting a lot of PTRs see if you can have a signature CoNNoR moment in each one, many TPR characters have a simple gimmick (wear a special shirt, picture of the poster eating, hugging lampposts, picture of the poster looking constipated in front of the park, including a small stuffed animal in the PTR) -Don't try to copy other people's PTRs too closely. Be original and be yourself. -Makes references to pop culture, current events -Try to think about the captions when you take the pictures, and if you have a good one you think you are going to forget write it down, text it to yourself or leave it on someone's voice mail. CoNNoR Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 well haven't Alton towers put the corkscrew from the vekoma corkscrew they used to have and i like vekoma corkscrew`s so should i do something like it mine ALL MINE lol
Erik Johnson Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 well haven't Alton towers put the corkscrew from the vekoma corkscrew they used to have and i like vekoma corkscrew`s so should i do something like it mine ALL MINE lol I would write: "I miss the old Vekoma corkscrew because it was my first big coaster. At least Alton Towers preserved a section of the coaster and placed it near the front entrance." I guess you can have a photo of you in front of it with the caption, "Mine, ALL MINE!"
dandaman Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 -Makes references to pop culture, current events -Try to think about the captions when you take the pictures, and if you have a good one you think you are going to forget write it down, text it to yourself or leave it on someone's voice mail. I follow these last two to the letter, especially the first (often against many people's unvoiced insistence, I'm sure)! All of the advice in here is great for PTR's.
CoNNoR Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Thank you for all of the advice and i will relly take it on board for when i go to alton towers and thanks again
WillMontu Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 From my personal experiences: -Go for quality over quantity. I used to post huge PTRs with hundreds of photos, and they were buried very quickly, especially when they only covered stuff that others had seen before and people started losing interest by the second page. I now generally only post if it's something new or interesting -Don't get too discouraged by lack of hits/responses. Many old PTRs are moved to the archive forum and/or placed in the park index -TPR has its in-jokes, but don't go overboard, especially when they involve people (who probably get sick of such comments). Everyone already knows that Jeff Johnson can get 1000 credits from riding a Wacky Worm depending on the seat, time of day, and weather conditions. Sometimes its better to make up your own. I've sometimes hidden small surprises, etc. in photos, such as Photoshopping a sign -PTRs can be a lot of work. If all else fails, just put the camera away and ride.
CoNNoR Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 well i have an idea that if i ride breaks down i could say 'ohhh i see john and his camera of doom has been here lol
CoNNoR Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 I've finished my TR I will leave a link at the end of my post http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55445&p=902058#p902058
