Eating Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I always enjoy fairs. I think I've been to almost all of the fairs in the Central Florida area, but one I had always missed was the Osceola County Fair in Kissimmee, FL. They had all the good stuff that a fair should have such as a huge selection of farm animals, circus acts, and plenty of rather scary snap-together, spin to you barf type rides that I tend to avoid. It wasn't a very large fair when compared to other fairs that come though the area like the Central Florida Fair or the Florida State Fair, but it was still a step above a typical touring carnival. Enough talk though, on to pictures... Police horses @ fairgrounds entrance. There was a rodeo going on at the Silver Spurs Arena on the night I visited the fair. They had a large ferris wheel with an insane line. You would probably wait an hour to ride this... Ring of Fire... Spin to you barf swings... The gravitron had a bright fluorescent paintjob... One of my all time favorite carnival rides. I love these corny dark rides! Like all good fairs should, they had plenty of farm animals at the Osceola County Fair... 1st Place lamb chops... Rabbit competition... Circus! They called the show Pirates of the Colombian Caribbean. As my name implies, I like to eat. That includes eating the sometimes scary fair food. I didn't get pizza. But i did get a plate of ribbon fries! and some roasted corn... I enjoyed my trip to the fair. It wasn't the biggest or the best fair around, but it was still a fun way to spend the afternoon with it's $5 admission fee...
ScottBrown Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I'm happy with any fair as long as the Zipper is there
thrillgeek Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Looks very similar to the Marin County Fair or the Petaluma fair they have here in Northern CA. This one looks to have a pretty cool show though which the ones around here have no shows. Thanks for sharing the pics. Glad you finally got to go there. Nice 1st post btw
Pirouettes907 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 So what exactly is a ribbon fry? They look more like potato chips than fries.
Eating Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 They basically were freshly made potato chips. I guess ribbon fries is the fair term for fresh chips...
Pirouettes907 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 ^ Well, whatever they want to call them, they look delicious!
beyondthepalace Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Since this fair is not far from my house, this is a fun annual event for us. The only downside is that they do not have all the crazy fair food you see out there (no Deep Fried Butter, Deep Fried Pepsi, etc.) This was the first year they had the corn on the cob that was pictured! Still not a bad deal for $5 but the best deal is for $15 you get admission to one of the rodeo nights and free entrance to the fair!
