Photo TR: Ontario Science Centre

Hi all! This is my first photo TR, so be nice

Also, the pictures hardly do the place justice because my camera kept dying throughout the day whenever we encountered something exciting, so bear with me!

For those of you who don't know, the Ontario Science Centre is a place that combines learning and fun for people of all ages (am I a salesperson or what?!) - but it's mostly just fun and amusing. It is also home to Ontario's only IMAX Dome theatre, which was playing four films: Journey to Mecca, Under the Sea, The Alps, and Star Trek (yeeeeeah). Unfortunately, I had to sit through Under the Sea with what felt like every summer camp on the planet (I can't handle children in large groups). It was a good film, though, and I'd recommend anyone who hasn't experienced an IMAX Dome to go and find one now!

Anyways, I'll try to cut to the pictures, and if anybody really cares about what else there was to see that my camera failed bigtime on, the exhibits not pictured include:

KidSpark (it was also inhabited by every summer camp in North America)

Human Body (though I really did want to get some good fetus pictures)

MindWorks

The Science of Spying (which was pretty cool, but my camera didn't care)

Sport Hall

Science Arcade

Now onto the pictures!

And that's that! Until next time, Science Centre!

There was a really odd looking playground. Unfortunately, it didn't keep the endless sea of summer campers away from me all day :(

Art installation!

There were a zillion escalators, but it was okay because we could bird watch while riding them!

This is where the bubbles came from. Each little tube lit up at the bottom when it made a bubble.

This was a pretty cool machine - it made portraits out of bubbles! I have no clue how it worked, but here's Marilyn Monroe.

You could do stuff like make your own technology here... or your own shoes, as pictured above.

Next up, the Innovation Station (as my sister breaks her neck?)

This guy was large. I wanted to take it home.

You often see random things like trees in walls at the Science Centre

The main hall that the Lizards & Snakes, Innovation Station, and Science of Spying exhibits branched off from

This area had three different exhibits

I'll also upload a video of it, for those as easily amused as I am :)

It reminded me of the Sesame Street "One, two, three" skit with the little red ball.

Alright, so this was the absolute highlight of my day! It was this kinetic perpetual motion machine, and I would have just sat there and watched the balls rolling all day if my family didn't drag me away.

This had something to do with comets... or something...?

There was a lot of space-themed art, and being one of those artsy kids, naturally, I wasted most of my camera's battery life on a bunch of pictures of them. I won't bore you with all of them though :)

We're here! That big silver dome is the IMAX Dome.

Looks like a fun trip and understand what you mean by the perpetual motion display. Many years ago at COSI (Center of Science Industry) in Columbus Ohio, there was a 3 story tall version of that display that was just really fun to watch. Your pictures brought back some good memories from that cub scout trip.

Hey, technical art and science can be good stuff.
