My friend knows I'm a coaster nut, probably like many of your friends/family do. He's taking a road trip up to the Atlanta Georgia area and is going to SFoG. He asked me what the best day to go is, best rides, etc. Not knowing to much about SFoG, because only going there a few times, I decided to post the questions here and get some real insight about the park.

So my questions are the basic general questions like:

What are the must do rides?(I know Goliath/Mindbender/Batman)

What are good show's(if any)?

Where's the best place for a family of 5 to eat?(best value)

What is the best day to go out of August 7th, 8th, or 9th?

And any other thing you guys can tell me about SFoG would really help.

Please I need info.

Thanks in advance.

Most Atlanta area schools start back up on Aug 10. That might make for a crowded weekend (get a Q-Bot). There is a "Christian Back-to-school concert" on Aug 8. If that is your friend's type of thing they might consider that day; otherwise I would avoid the Saturday crowd. I can't decide now whether Sunday would be crowded because it is the last shot before school starts or maybe less so since it is a school night. I haven't actually been to the park this weekend (last one before school starts) in forever. Anybody else with recent experience...?

Park strategy: If you want to run with the bulls then head to Goliath. Otherwise, skip it and you can get some low wait rides in on Batman and Mindbender or go to the back of the park to catch Superman (typically one of the slowest loading rides). Remember to ride Ninja in the 2nd to last seat. Georgia Cyclone is a very aggressive ride and is too rough for many people; so plan according to personal taste (do not ride anywhere other than the front or the back or the ride's forces are wasted and you get nothing but shook up).

Don't miss Monster Plantation. It is a unique dark ride.

I don't think they really have any decent shows to be concerned about; although they might be a chance to sit inside in the AC for a while.

Food Value? Hah! this is Six Flags we're talking about here.

I usually get the bar-b-que at Daddy O's or go to the GoldenPandaBuddahExpress place.

^Thanks. I was going to tell them to of course get the Q-bot because it will make the experience that much better. I knew monster plantation isn't a ride to miss also. Since Saturday will probably overly, extremely crowded because of the concert/fact that it's Saturday, I don't know which day would still be best Friday or Sunday?

The park has quite a few 'Family Combo' promotions at various food locations (Mainly Papa Johns, Johnny Rockets, Dee Jay's Diner, Miner's Cookhouse and any place that sells chicken tenders). This is something like a large pizza, two sports bottles (with free refills all day), and a salad for $36.99. Not a bad deal considering that could easily feed 4 or 5 people.

Definitely avoid Saturday. Christian concerts in the South are very popular (lots of church groups). This could also affect Friday's crowds considering many make this an overnight trip.

Most of the 'must-rides' have been mentioned, but I will go ahead and throw in Acrophobia. The line for Monster Mansion has been quite long this season, so that might be a 'ride-first' option if they want to get it out of the way.

The best plan for me is do Georgia Cyclone right at 10:00 (it as near the entrance and they usually open it right at 10), but make sure to be standing at the rope at 10:30. Go all the way to the back of the park and ride Superman as many times as you will want to that day. Then go to GASM and Ninja. Make your way around the park to Gotham city to ride Batman and Mindbender. Then go to Goliath, which should have a 15-20 minute wait by then. Then ride Georgia Schorcher, and then go around the park for smaller rides and re-rides. On a wednesday, you should finish this plan by around noon. (I've done it all by 2 on a saturday)

As said above, Aceophobia is a can't-miss.

Just went there today and the food deals were acutlly amazing for SF. Was 20 bucks for 2 chicken strip combos and a sports bottle. Not a bad price at all for a theme park.

Also, whatever you do, do not miss Monster Mansion. It really was the high light of the day. I also like the Canyon Blaster way more then i had any right to.
