coasters 4 me Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 What is there to do apart from theme parks? I was showing my dad a video of Cedar Point and he has heard me talking about it for ages. He seemed interested in the video. He asked me what else is there to do in the Sandusky or Ohio area instead of theme parks. So what is there?
disneygurlz2s Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 There are a group of islands off the Sandusky coast that are very popular destinations. One is Put in Bay, the other is Kelley's Island and there may be a third, but I can't think of it at the moment... anyway, you can take ferry boats from the Cedar Point area to these islands and there are beaches, walking/bike trails, fishing, dining, a winery.. that kind of stuff. Over in Cleveland is the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, Akron has the Football Hall of Fame, the Greater Cincinnati area (really all the major cities) have nice museums and other attractions if the folks aren't in to the theme parks. Dayton has a lot of aeronautic stuff because of Wright Patterson AFB and the fact that it's the home of the Wright Bros. Hope this helps you get your trip to Cedar Point. SonOfBeastSucks Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Yeah, as in the above statement, The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is really neat and fun. Cleveland also has a pretty good zoo and a natural history museum. If you have the time, PKI is also a really good park. One more thing, if you are a member of AAA, they have free guide books about every state and they have several places to see and places to stay and eat. Ok, this is really the last thing I have to say.... there are also several water parks and beaches in Ohio, in and near CP.
coasters 4 me Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 I knew about PKI and Castaway Bay. Thnks for the info. I will tell my dad this. But can you spend 2weeks in Ohio without being bored, like, is there plenty to do? or would even 1 week be enough?
SonOfBeastSucks Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 One week would probably be enough, but I think its possible to spend two weeks in Ohio. A two week trip is the better idea if you want to hit all three major parks and all three major cities (Cleveland, Colombus, Cincinati). You need two days at CP, if you go to a waterpark, one day will be enough, you can see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and natural history museum in one day, the Cleveland Zoo takes another, mayby spend two days at the beach, one day at GL, driving to Cincinati and seeing something there takes another day, add another day for PKI, add one or two more days for Colombus, one more day possibly for flying out or driving out or whatever. The grand total of days for that quick type is.. 12- 13 days. So yeah, if the above intenerary interests you you can spend near two weeks in Ohio, but I would reccomend going for one week to Ohio and then taking an entirly different trip with the money saved by cutting the Ohio trip in half. Hit one park, make it CP of course, but if you have time for a second trip and don't mind the drive to Cincinati, make the second park PKI. A one week trip could be two days at CP, one in Cleveland, one at the zoo, one at a waterpark, two driving days for PKI (there and back) and one day for PKI. Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, just ask!
