SFOGdude25 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Hey, guys! I have a bunch of pics of Cedar Point taken inside and outside the park. All were taken on my CoasterMania trip last year. I thought I would post them on here for your appreciation. This is basically a WAY overdue photo trip report. Enjoy! Bad picture, but still. Best skyline ever. More to come later. Cool looking sky. ^ Nice pictures The Breaker's Express's pool area is pretty fun. Here's one of the rooms (and dad taking a nap). A somewhat cliche hotel hallway pic (effect ruined by flash). This pic reminds me of Florida a little. Cedar Point Road. Good but messy food haha. I find the Sandusky area quite pretty near Lake Erie. It's fun to take pics at cool angles. New at the time. The Fabulous Cedar Point road sign. Castaway Bay. Fun Place. This is a great place to stay btw if your on a bit of a budget.
SFOGdude25 Posted May 31, 2009 Author Posted May 31, 2009 Here come more photos! I personally REALLY like Wildcat. It's just a lot of fun to ride. Too bad it was closed at the time. Iron Dragon is a nice family coaster. Not that thrilling, but still pretty cool. Notice how nearly everyone has their hands up. Such a great ride. Back over to the Force. Empty station. This is a common sight for Mean Streak. Gotta love the old school mine style trains. Getting faster. The final helix. This mine train sorta rides like Dahlonega Mine Train at SFOG. This one isn't as good because it is on flat ground. It's still pretty fun, though. Another funky angle photo. I find the blue side to be a little rougher than the red side for some reason. I think the red side was closed at the time. I find Gemini's final helix to be fun. I kinda like to be knocked around a little. Very retro station. This was a funny sight. Apparently Cedar Point has several cotton trees, and they were shedding their cotton all over the Gemini Midway. On one of my rides on Gemini, a lot of cotton was airborne and was hitting me in my eyes. It wasn't fun. You can see Millennium Force in several places throughout the park. That's a long lift. I like Magnum's retro trains. I like riding in the back car: middle row. That's a LONG way up. I love the sound of the train flying down the track. It sounds like a jet. Top Thrill Dragster and overcast weather. What are you guys talking about? Cedar Point DOES have trees! Power Tower gives me a good scare being held up there. I like it. I much prefer the turbo drop side. I like drop rides. Wicked Twister station. This right here is the main reason Cedar Point became a popular tourist attraction in its first years. I never see very many people on it now. Twisted. The plaza. Front spike. Such a large park. Another fun coaster: Wicked Twister. Gotta love Sandusky weather. Uh oh! Giant bugs attack Cedar Point! (I know. bad attempt, right?) Back outside and looking up. The loading area. Let's go to Alaska. Hard to see theming. Going in for some UV fun. Disaster Transport is okay. It's a little short for me. Walking over here now. It sorta does feel like your flying here. Pre-lift. Helixes were a rather popular way to end coasters for a while. More Raptor. This fills the classic wooden coaster quota for the park. This coaster is a lot better than its cousin across the park. Watch out for that transition though. It's REALLY quick. A train full of happy riders. Corkscrew. Fun ride that one is. The drop is fun, but the transition to vertical position is rather painful. I see you, Blue Streak. You float all the way through the first drop on the far right side of the train. Vertical loopage. The best ride is given in the front seat on the far right side to me. Looking back towards the Oceana Midway. My favorite B&M invert. The last overbanked turn is fun. Cool sign. Here we are at the concrete part of the park. The lift hill is a magnificent sight. I used to drool over MF all the time when it first opened in 2000, and I was only 8 years old! I wonder how many people have this picture? Millennium Force: speed, height, smooth graceful elements, and some nice floater airtime. The scenic Frontier Trail. Millennium also arguably has the best first drop on a coaster. It's just keeps going and going, all the while your getting some fantastic airtime all the way down. Here's my perspective on this coaster: the reason why people like it so much is because it gives a rather relaxing ride. Think about it. Your going really fast through super smooth elements, and your also getting nice long floater air moments on the first drop and the two big airtime hills. The thrill element comes from the speed, and it feels great on your face. This is my favorite Shoot-the-chutes water ride. The drop has some nice air, and you get pretty wet. It feels great on a hot day. The "not-quite-as-good-as-Maverick-but-still-the-most-popular-coaster-at-the-Point" Millennium Force. Intense positive gs! Didn't quite time it right. And probably the craziest element of the ride. Going through the horseshoe roll. Nice airtime! It's also quick and crazy, while still managing to be smooth. Such a fun ride. The best part about it is the large variety of elements to me. In the mean time, let's enjoy some great rides on my favorite steel coaster! I don't really mind them keeping Mean Streak, but Cedar Point does need to build another woodie or two soon. The largest coaster at the Point. It gives a fun ride, too. I personally really like racing coasters. The first drop is great. Gemini really is one of the park's best coasters. The sleeping giant. Welcome to Intamin and Arrow central. I like this sign. It's nice. Cool! Pinch me! And this is VERY high. That's pretty high. Sure it's thigh bruising, but I still like it a lot. Cedar Fair trash cans. At least they keeps the trash from overflowing out of the cans. This is a lovely sight at a place like Cedar Point. My favorite flat ride at the Point. Hello, Dragster. I can see how some don't like it. It rides better in certain seats compared to others. Hey look! It's one of those coasters that people can't stop talking about. These two however are MUCH better. Ah...Mean Streak. It CAN be fun, but it's mostly just big and boring.
SFOGdude25 Posted May 31, 2009 Author Posted May 31, 2009 A couple more. The park from the Ferris Wheel. That's all I've got. I was somewhat stapled on my ride. It kinda hurt my groin a little.
lil jimmy norton Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 You should have taken the picture of Mean Streak from the hotel and smashed the person at the front desk in the head with it. Of course the person didn't do anything wrong, the ride just sucks that much. I really like those pictures of Maverick.
DiSab Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Very nice pictures. Best seat on Magnum is definitely 1-3. If you haven't tried it, you should.
themeparkman25 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Sounds like every one of your "favorites" is at that park, but it does offer quite some sweet thrills. On that picture of raptor into the final brake run where you say it can be a rough transition, look at all that bird poop on the support! Great pictures though, looks like you had a nice day even with the weather.
SFOGdude25 Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 ^Yeah, I'm a Cedar Point fanatic. I enjoy just about everything there! Plus, I don't get that many opportunities to go to major parks around the country, so when I'm at places like Cedar Point, I have a great time just being there.
