thrillrideseeker Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 So I had the bright idea to download Scream Machines, and every-time I go to play it I get a message that says the "Program is damaged, possibly by a bad sector of hard drive. Please re-install." So I have reinstalled it at least 40 times. Any ideas what is causing this, or how I can fix it? Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be because I am trying to run it in Vista? Any help would be great! Thanks! ~Matthew See?! Its broke =(
Eric_Smith Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I have Vista and everything works fine for me. Not sure what your problem is. What bit vista are you running?
thrillrideseeker Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 I have not a clue! How do I find out?! ~Matthew
DBru Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Try looking down at the 'stickers' to the bottom right of your computer...somewhere around there you should find "64" or "32"...
thrillrideseeker Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 So I finally figured it out, and it says 32... =/ ~Matthew
Loefet Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Looks like you have a bad sector on your hard drive, run a Check-disk or other diagnostics tool on the drive to see if there are any damaged sectors. If you have then there is a few programs to fix those kind of things, but don't hope too much on them. The reason why you get the same error message every time is that you try and read the files from the same physical location on the drive (Could also be that Scream Machines are accessing a file that have something to do with Windows that is located on that bad sector). Do you have any other partitions on your hard drive (or other drives)? try and install it on them instead and see if you still got the same result. You might have to think about replacing the disk in the near future so you don't run the chance of loosing your data.
