Please in the future don't try to pan the camera while the ride is running... It just doesn't work well. Try to find good positions to shoot from and then work with them. The panning just ends up painful (although I believe there is an interface for a scripted sequence but it is secret and supposedly not too friendly).

Also please never use that effect you used at the beginning. It just made me feel ill after compression.

Otherwise the ride looks pretty fun. I'm thinking about building a similar ride using some block brakes to make a semi realistic roll out then launch.

That was a really good effort! I haven't tried doing that yet. How long did it take you?

All together... Maybe 2 hours...

Thanks so much! Yeah, I found panning the camera wasn't such a hot idea! The effects at the beggining are good in full version , but when compressed, you're right, It's horrid! But like I said, it's my first time, so I'll get better. (hopefully )

^^Wow! that was a bit harsh. It was his first try at this, and to be honest I hope my first one turns out to be as good as his! I just hope comments like yours don't put the poor guy off posting future videos!

Well, here it is!

It's my first one so it kinda sucks. I'm still getting used to Windows Movie Maker 2. The coaster resembles Powderkeg but there's no relation!

You can download it here!

PLEASE COMMENT!!

For a first effort that video is really GREAT !! I really enjoyed the coaster itself.

I think the theming for the coaster could be improved but the ride itself was cool !

As for the video, I'm guessing you are using FRAPS rather than the ingame video capturing. The ingame one takes A LONG time, about a frame a second but the quality is worth it, to capture 90secs of video would take approx. 35 minutes, using FRAPS is quicker but can tend to jump and skip and look a bit worse as it's done on the fly.

To help the overall look of the video I recommend using the ingame ASE (Attract Sequence Editor) which is accessible ingame using Ctrl-Shift-0 (that's Zero) and get used to positioning camera's etc. (the ASE is also accessible by renaming a peep to D Lean, but Ctrl-Shift-0 is easier) You can use this to do professional looking camera pans, swings etc.

Despite what people think, the ASE really isn't hard to use after you get used to it.

For more info on the ASE and using it, check out the Tips and Tricks section of http://www.vodhin.net/ and Klinns Tutorial here.

(although I believe there is an interface for a scripted sequence but it is secret and supposedly not too friendly).

It's not THAT secret , and it's not too unfriendly either, heck even I can use it fairly well, lots of people have used it to make ride and park videos.

Thanks! I couldn't remember if this had been done alot before.

As far as I know (although I haven't checked back very far) there aren't many RCT3 POV's at all on this forum. There are quite a few over at the official boards though.

So all in all, GREAT effort, I hope my suggestions help, especially once you get to grips with the ASE.

So ASE won't hurt the game? (i.e. crashes, bugs, etc.)

Nope, it works fine and doesn't make the game any more or less unstable.

It was just a tool that frontier didn't quite get to finish hence having to click the right-hand side of buttons rather than the buttons themselves. It's quite easy to get used to.

If those sites I pointed to don't explain it well enough, I'll try to knock up a little tutorial for you.

Well I guess it's like No Limits, it seems super hard and difficult, but once you get used to it, its a piece of cake! Will I still be able to further edit the video in another program? (i.e. combine, split clips, add effects?)

Whoa! That ASE is complicated! For now I think I'll just stick to the other way while I try to learn the ASE way.

It definitely looks complicated when you first see the window, but once you start, you'll find it is fairly easy.

Basically you just move your view to where you want the start and end points and click a button. It will then create a path between those two points. You can then modify the path all you want. You can have as many points on the path as you like etc...

Whether you use FRAPS or the RCT3-way (Ctrl-Shift-F11 by default) to make video, you can use whatever program you like to edit the video, so yeah you can still combine and split clips, add effects, do transitions etc..

I'll be making a video for my Mystic Falls park later, and I'll use the ASE for part of it so you can see how smooth the paths can look.

Great! Thanks! But do you still have to do on-rides trough the RCT3 way? Usually that slow fps isn't that bad because I know exactly when to stop it!

Well you still do on-ride sections using RCT3's coaster cam, you can use whichever video method you find easier, fraps or ingame.

I've just captured a ton of video using the ingame one, and to get all the shots I wanted has taken about 2 and a half hours.... now I just have to find some music and cut it together lol (It didn't help that my coaster only lasted 30 seconds, so will have to find artistic ways to lengthen the video

One tip for the ASE, always use the (F) button to place your next camera, it places it at the end and the paths seem smoother than using the (S) button

I changed the thread name so I could post all of the POV's here! I guess I'm gonna do a couple a week! I really enjoyed making the first one so here's a preview for tommorow's.

Steel Stallion+Death Valley=Ultimate Scream MAchine!

I'll have it up tommorow!

Well, here's today's POV! I guess it's better so please comment!!!

HERE!

Very cool coaster , I'm not too sure about the really slow parts but it works and overall it's a neat coaster, much better than the stormrunner in my park

As for the video, it's a million times better than your first one. You used some really cool camera angles and it just worked.

Good Job !
