Josh Davidson
Welcome to Lake Lenape Park. Located in Mays Landing, New Jersey. The park closed a few years ago I believe, was stripped of all its rides and buildings shut down or destroyed minus a few. I was able to go inside today due to a crew race being held on the lake and got hold of some photographs. A old park exit rusting away. The park's carousel was held in here. Doubt it is still in there, but the building itself is all boarded up and shut down. Mini golf anybody? Mini golf rules. This used to be a foundation for a ride. The park resided next to Lake Lenape (go figure). The light house is all that really remains untouched. I am also debating about submitting this photo to InterfaceLift. Should I? Water. Noted. And oh snap, it is me. And since it is crew, why not one action shot. The place felt eerie, but with the amount of people there it kind of lost that touch. sugart
I grew up in Mays Landing and Lake Lenape was a big part of my childhood. We used to go on class trips there and I even lifeguarded there when I was 17. It was just a small little mom and pop place that the owners built for the community. They also built the skating rink out front which is still owned by the family. The carousel hasnt been in that building in my lifetime. When I was younger it was an indoor mini golf course and then when I worked there, its where the campers slept on overnight stays in the summer. I dont even remember a carousel to be honest, just a small ferris wheel and some boat/motorcycle rides that went in a circle.
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess
Sounds pretty cool to visit old deserted theme parks like that. Feels like a ghost town for sure! I have this strange attraction for deserted buildings and such and I'm sure someday I'll take a tour around a deserted theme park! ~ Jess "is not afraid of ghosts" Chan
tidal_moon_treasures
Here's a view of Lake Lenape Amusement Park as featured on a 1960 plate commemorating the 250th anniversary of Mays Landing, NJ. Looks like it was a nice place once. Lake Lenape Amusement Park, Mays Landing, NJ
cfc
The mini-golf course looks like it's in surprisingly good shape.

cfc
^Ha! I didn't notice that this was first posted in '09. I imagine it's a wee bit more overgrown by now.
