CreditCrazy Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I went to Castle Amusement Park a couple weeks ago and since then, I've been trying to figure out how to get these pictures big. And now they are ready . Ride Count: Dragon's Tower x7 Log Ride 4x Screamin' Demon x2 Dragon Flyers x1 Little Dipper x1 I was really glad Little Dipper was open. It was my very first roller coaster and is still pretty fun. For a very long time it was missing a piece that couldn't be found, and from what I've heard it was going to be removed. When I went, it was running perfectly so I guess it's staying. But I got an on-ride POV of it just incase Since Castle Amusement Park is small and unknown, I'll try to make a "serious" PTR. It's really just random pictures of rides and things there, and I had no plan on what I would say for them. They were all taken in lines/walking through the park, and I did not get every ride. But I do go here a lot, so eventually I should have a nice collection of pictures of their rides. Dragon's Tower Falling Star What's wrong Merlin? (it was closed). Fireball Spider Little Dipper The Log Ride I don't know what the purpose is of this picture. Just enjoy it even though it sucks. The Log Ride's first drop (smaller than the second). What a nice, peacful picture. Ha, funny And to the right, you can see Castle Amusement Park's very own waterpark! Kings Crown... ...died... More of Dragon, the best ride in the park (unless you're a freak and you ride Fireball). Thunderbolt has been closed for over a year. Castle Park's miniature golf course. Chinatown! Spider's sign...
CreditCrazy Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 Screamin' Demon (new coaster). Those are very high-tech style train (s). Dragon Dragon Dragon. Merrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlin's drop (if it counts as one). Dragon Flyers (other new ride). The picture I could get of Screamin' Demon (he's still very new to the park and shy). A circle A floating star. Wait, that's not a star. The tunnel of happiness. Great scenary Going solo? It's falling! And...Sea Dragon. The End
Mochtroid Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Are you sure you didn't take pictures of Adventureland? Eerily similar!
CreditCrazy Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 Hmm I'm not sure where I was... Which Adventureland?
rcdude Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Great pictures. I'm glad to see that the Little Dipper has reopened as I thought it was on the way out. It has been closed on my previous two visits. Was Ghostblasters open by any chance? That has also been closed on my recent visits and I haven't seen any work going on, although the ride looks completely operational. I think it just isn't as popular anymore since it costs extra. How did you like the Screamin' Demon? I personally thought that the ride was great for a park like Castle Amusement Park, but overall that it wasn't that great of a ride. When I rode I got jerked in a couple places and slammed into the bar when it hit the brakes. It also didn't seem like it spun very much. I'm glad you had a good time. Castle Amusement Park is really the best minor park around, and it has Dragon's Tower which is probably my favorite S&S ride. I need to post my Castle Amusement Park video once CoasterTube gets up and running completely (even though it isn't really that great).
CreditCrazy Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 Yes, Ghostblasters was open. I also haven't seen it open on my previous visits but I think it's just because no one wanted to ride. But there were actually people in line, and riding it. Screamin' Demon was okay. I agree, it was a crappy coaster and was very jerky on brakes and some turns but really a good ride for Castle Park.
socalMAN123 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Great TR! I really enjoy going to this park on my rare visits there. You're right, Dragon's Tower is hands down the best ride in the park. The airtime on the second shot is INSANE. ---Brent
Sir Clinksalot Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Very cool, thanks for the pics. We really need to get out there sometime. I love the old-school flats. Although I realized I already have the spinning mouse credit since I rode it at the Ventura County Fair a few years back. Cool, now I can get credit for it.
CreditCrazy Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 Very cool, thanks for the pics. We really need to get out there sometime. I love the old-school flats. Although I realized I already have the spinning mouse credit since I rode it at the Ventura County Fair a few years back. Cool, now I can get credit for it. It's still a little scary. It's on wheels. Might as well just be at the Ventura Fair again, but it is a good addition to the park. And don't forget your Vekoma Roller Skater credit without roller skater cars and the nearly killed miler.
CreditCrazy Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 That minigolf course looked insane! It is pretty cool. And very big, there's 4 different courses.
Brigitta Cat Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 My hometown park! I'm glad to see that Castle Park is still open and still has their train ride, which I always loved when I was young. I'm sorry to see the thunderbolt closed down, I used to be a huge fan of it. Ghostblasters is a pretty average ride, to say the least. You didn't miss much. Then again, a huge part of me is bitter that they took out two levels of the Castle Park Arcade to put it in. They got rid of a vintage Tapper machine, damnit. Tapper! Was the actual park itself in good condition? Last time I went (2005) it seemed a bit crummier than when I used to go once a month during high school. Also: That minigolf course looked insane! It is pretty cool. And very big, there's 4 different courses. It's seriously the best minigolf in the Inland Empire. Scandia (another park) is OK, and Pharoh's (yet another!) is better than Scandia, but Castle Park is just divine. They used to have giant rocking style horses near the entrances to the different courses that were totally. awesome.
Thelegendarymatthew Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Yup, those mini golf courses are big. How do I know? Ariel maps of course! I'll say what I said on C-Net, nice PTR, its cool to see one of the small parks be recognized. I think the only person who will get that joke is me and David, but I could care less -Matthew.K
CreditCrazy Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Brigitta Cat: The park was in usual condition. I'm sure you know what I mean by that. And I agree that the minigolf course is better than Scandia's, but I've never been to Pharoh's (is it good?). Thelegendarymatthew: Haha, thanks
Brigitta Cat Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I spent many a school trip at Pharoh's, and while I liked the water park I thought the minigolf was kind of neat. Not as many courses as Castle Park but well themed and such. Pharoh's went downhill FAST, though, and while the beginning of the park's life was promising and fairly nice, near the end it became incredibly trashy. The last time I went to Pharoh's (girl scout trip) someone had etched a homophobic slur into my mom's car, which was just a little bit of a downer.
