alexinla
I was to young for this place but can only imagine how awsome this place would be to experience if it would be still around these days From what i understand is that POP opend the same year as Disneyland and somehow it went to crap, which kinda sucks. Anyhow, i was bored on you tube and i came across this promotional video which is a throw back in time i thought would be nice to share
JoshAbelsonXiii
I asked my dad if he remembers Pops. He actually did. You use to bike there a lot. Pretty cool! Thanks for the video!
ebl
My mom said that she and my dad took us there when we were kids, but I don't remember it. I do remember going to the nearby Santa Monica pier in the early '70s and seeing the Sea Serpent rotting away and wishing that we could go ride it. As I understood it, one of the reasons that POP closed was that the cost to maintain it was breaking the bank. This park only lasted ten years (closing in 1968, same year as the Pike in Long Beach), but because it was right next to the ocean, the salt air literally rotted the place and it aged terribly in a short time. alexinla
The pictures of POP in ruins are hard to look at, so sad. And on a different note, how come my gender is unknown on these boards, what's up with that? lol MALE!

BrownStreak
This park totally looks like the type of place that Mystery Machine would happen upon in an early 80's episode of Scooby Doo. An old seaside park that was done in because some guy in a shark suit scared everyone away.
