So I'm just wondering if there are any APhiO brothers (actives or alumnus) here. I figured that since this site's so big there *has* to be at least one.

Anyway, I'm a member of the chapter at the University of Dayton, Alpha Gamma Xi. I just joined last semester, Spring '07. If there are any other brothers out there, are you going to the National conference in December? Hopefully I'll be there - as long as I can figure out why the registration page is denying me.

^So true. I would never consider rushing a social fraternity in a million years.

APhiO is actually a co-ed service fraternity with chapters at literally hundreds of colleges in the US and overseas. We aren't even a part of the Pan-Hellenic Counsel, BTW.

I have, and always will, disagree with Greek life on college campuses.

Even the nationals? My girlfriend is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and graduated from Ursinus College a few years ago. It is a very classy bunch of girls, and of course being a national sorority they are not allowed to haze. The same goes for their counterpart fraternity, the Skulls. Our good ole' boy president G.W. was a member.

I agree on some levels as far as social Greek life goes. There needs to be more restrictions on a lot that goes on.

APO is completely and utterly atypical when it comes to greek life. It is a SERVICE frat, where the focus is on servincg the comunity, not drinking and getting laid. As a brother, i volunteered over 75 hours every semester to various charities around town.

Oh, I was a member of the Gamma Chapter at Cornell University. We are the oldest continously active chapter, having just celebrated over 80 years of service to the Ithaca Community. We were also the first chapter to allow women to join.

In LFS, Moose.

^ That's a pretty big generalization when the fraternities can be radically different from one another.

And what doe the hell does it have to do with the thread?
