darque
Hey all, I'm heading out to California to meet up with a friend for a convention Halloween weekend in Pasadena. We both land at LAX around noon on Thursday Oct 30th. I figure we'll have a couple hours to go to a park and I was looking for a suggestion between Disneyland, 6FMM or Knott's. I'm not interested in the Halloween mazes, nor do I want to put up with crazy lines & massive crowds. I've heard that my home park, Canada's Wonderland can be absolutely insane for Halloween events and don't want to put up with it. Could anyone shed some light on this? Where would I get the most rides in? I'd really appreciate it.
Bolliger&Mabillard
I'd have to say your best bet is Knott's for a few reasons. 1. Its the cheapest park, 2. It's closest to LAX and the metro L.A. area 3. During Halloween Haunt day operations are almost non- existant. It's also the only park you could run around and do everything in a couple of hours. Besides, if your in town Thursday Magic mountain won't be open...it's on weekend hours only.
rcdude
If you'll be going to a park on a Thursday, or for only a couple hours, go to Knott's Berry Farm. Disneyland will be way too crowded and Six Flags Magic Mountain will be closed. At Knott's, you will almost definitely be able to get on the five must-ride attractions in the time you have. Just don't go to Knott's at night, as there is a two hour line for everything during the Haunt (or so I've heard). At Disneyland, it will take you an hour just to get on one ride, and there are more than a few that I wouldn't recommend missing.
Top Thrill Dragster
If you never been to a Disney park, go to Disneyland. And on the weekdays crowds are non existent there too. But as "Bolliger&Mabillard" said, day time operations at Knotts, crowds are non existent. Have fun.
gotdane
Knotts will close early on a Thursday for Haunt...so just be aware of operating hours. Whether you go to Knott's or Disneyland it will be at least an hour to an hour and a half after you leave LAX before you're actually in line for a ride at either of the parks. darque
Thanks for the info. Unless these passes a friend might be able to get for Disneyland materialize, we'll probably head to Knott's. It sucks they're closed so early, but it's better then nothing right?
RIP Psyclone
Yes, Knott's, definately. Although distance wise, Universal would take the least amount of time in terms of LAX -> Universal -> Pasadena. Magic Mountain has too much to do and you'd be frustrated not being able to do it all. Knott's shouldn't be very crowded since most people wouldn't be going until the event at night. You should be able to get on most, if not all of the major rides as well.
