coasterdude5 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I've wanted a german shepherd as long as I can remember. However, the want for one re-ignited when I saw I Am Legend last year. So I set out on a "mission" - to have a german shepherd before the end of 2008. I planned everything very carefully. I had to - we had two dogs already so I knew my parents wouldn't be very open to another one. I began in early July, dropping small hints about german shepherds. Both of my parents are dog-lovers, so they weren't too slow in catching on. Somebody seemed to keep dropping german shepherds everywhere I went. At the mexican restaurant, in New Orleans, in the car next to us going to the doctor, it was becoming very obvious I was meant to have one. But it didn't come without hard work, I read up on countless german shepherd books and websites. I was a german shepherd expert by the time summer vacation ended. But as school started and my focus shifted to my studies, the idea of having a german shepherd slowly drifted to the back of the old brain. I was planning to go to the Memphis dog show next month but I wasn't expecting my parents to randomly shell out $700 for a new dog. But today I went with the family to our town's yearly festival. My mom joked that I might see a shepherd and I did - there was a cool guy there with one who was training one to be a search-and-rescue dog. Later in the day I came across our animal shelter's tent and I decided to take a quick look - I usually don't find german shepherds in animal shelters. But my attention was direct to the back. Where there were two puppies (sisters). One my mom and I were especially drawn to. At first I didn't get too excited but then when I saw my mom pulling the "Aw, she is just precious... she's beautiful" move, I knew she was ours. We coaxed our dad which took a while, but he agreed and we filled out the papers. I had been thinking of names over the summer and I decided to name her Lucy.
dandaman Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Awesome! My friend had a German Shepherd until last year. From what I've experienced based on her, they're really friendly and not above an exhausting game of catch. (Up until her, I thought the dog was supposed to be tired before the owner. ) // Not ashamed to say "Awwwwwww!" over a dog, especially Lucy
PointeBreak Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww so cute! Lucy is a good name and I am VERY VERY jealous. If you ever have puppies, pop one in a box (with a straw so it can breathe) and post it to Australia. Cheers!
Kalepi_Konei Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Awww! That is an extremely cute puppy! I'm totally going to post a TR of my Guinea Pigs when I get them (very soon I just recieved 183 dollars tonight ) and I've basically been in the same boat you have been about a pet with the website thing and just wanting one in general! Kalepi "I'm a guniea pig entreprenuer by now" Konei!

Manny In England Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Just don't let her appear in the "State of the Killings" videos. A cute puppy would destroy the atmosphere very quickly.
