rollerboy Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 This is my first ever TR guys, be nice. We drove up to chertsey on the Saturday which took about 3 hours, the weather was beautiful! We pitched the tent in a mere 10 minutes, then relaxed the rest of the afternoon. I went to bed at about 10 as I was really excited and didn't want to be tired. The weather seemed to good to be true, it was! Day 1: We were awoken at about 5 in the morning by a thunder storm and heavy rain, it did not show any signs of stopping. Never the less we got ready and set off, we arrived at Thorpe Park at about 9.30 we could see Colossus testing which was a good sign, sadly not a sign of Stealth. We got in the park and went over to Flying Fish with my mum and 4 year old sister, she really enjoyed it; I mainly wanted the credit. Then we headed over to Nemesis Inferno where it delivered a great ride as usual! Got in a re-ride as well. The we got a hot dog from Canada Creek Hot dogs which was lovely! We then went and met up with one of TPR other members, jason10 and his dad, we headed over to Rush which I thought was a good ride. Next up, Colossus the worlds fist 10 looping roller coaster. Technically it features 1 loop but it means 10 inversions. After Colossus we rode X WTF which was okay, I don't know whats going on with the theming and quite frankly, I don't think Thorpe Park do either! After this we went on Vortex, Rumba Rapids and Time Voyagers and then ended the day on Vortex! Sadly Stealth was down all day, but there was always tomorrow! Day 2: Day 2 we kind of took it easy, we went on less rides and just chilled really. Until... At about 3 o'clock Stealth opened me and my friend looked at each other and were just like, OH MY GOD! We headed over there and it broke down about 3 times before we even got to the point of queuing! It got to about 5 o'clock and it re-opened and just as we got there, a rollback! They closed to queues which the ride was being re-set, but as soon as the where open, we were there! The queue time was approximately 120 minutes and the park was only open for another 40, so they let us stay behind after hours to ride! It was the best Ride I have ever been on, the launch was so amazing and the height was dazzling! I am so glad I waited for it! What a trip! Ride Ratings Stealth- Words cannot describe my ride on Stealth, it was absolutely amazing, the launch is just breathtaking! 10/10 Nemesis Inferno- Love this ride, its great fun but not to intense overall. 9/10 Colossus- Was fairly smooth in train 1, overall it was fun I really enjoyed it. 9/10 Flying Fish- Kiddie coaster, nothing great. 4/10 Vortex- My favourite flat ride in the park, shame it doesn't go on longer! 9/10 Quantum- A quite fun less intense flat ride. 7/10 Rush- Mixed opinions on this ride, first ride was great, second was not so! 7/10 X:/ No Way Out- Also known as X WTF it is such a weird ride, nothing special. 6/10 Rumba Rapids- Was fairly short for a rapids ride, good fun. 6/10 Loggers Leap- Fairly fun, I wouldn't wait for it tho. 6/10 Mr Monkeys Banana Boat- Just you average swing boat, didn't really enjoy it to much. 5/10 Time Voyagers- Good fun 4D cinema, was very well done. 7/10 Overall Ride Count: Nemesis Inferno X7 Vortex X3 Colossus X2 Rush X2 Quantum X2 Flying Fish X2 Stealth X1 X:/ No Way Out X1 Rumba Rapids X1 Mr Monkeys Banana Boat X1 Loggers Leap X1 Time Voyagers X1 Now, on with the pictures and 2 videos! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoiwlQ9f9oU and... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRpgjzgdwvw Me on the left again! thrillerman1 Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Nice PTR! I would love to get back to England some day and check out Thorpe. Thanks for sharing!
mattnz Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Nice first report - love the gloomy British weather back-drops! A few questions: - Why wasn't Rush so great for you the second time round? - Was Samurai or Slammer operational? - Did you see construction on the new coaster over in Canada Creek? Cheers!
Marcio Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Very nice first TR! I love to see those onride pics... I wanna go to Thorpe Park some day!
rollerboy Posted September 15, 2008 Author Posted September 15, 2008 Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated! Nice first report - love the gloomy British weather back-drops! A few questions: - Why wasn't Rush so great for you the second time round? - Was Samurai or Slammer operational? - Did you see construction on the new coaster over in Canada Creek? Cheers! Thanks yeah the weather was terrible the first day, it picked up a little bit on the second tho. 1. This may sound kinda stupid, I had the "dodgy" restraint, there was already a chunk taken out of it and on the back swing it moved about 2 inches forward every time. I ended up having cramp because I was holding on so tight! 2. Yes, they were both operational. Samurai had a 60 minute queue pretty much all day. As for Slammer, call me a wuss but you will never get me on that thing! There is something about it that makes me want to cry lol. 3. Yes I did, I went a few days before track arrived so there was only footers up at that time. Sure is going up quick now tho! Jordan.
