Vffreak07 Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Hey everyone! I got a couple questions for everyone. Next Saturday I'm leaving from Minnesota to Chicago for the beginning of my Road Trip. 1.) We'll be passing by the Dells, but I don't have the Avalanche credit. Is it worth it to pay the $6 bucks, and take a 1/2 hour detour? Also, are on ride pictures okay by the park? Or is it against the rules? 2.) Six Flags Great America - Are there any discounts available for soon(ish)? Also I'm still confused on the whole Flash Pass Gold thing. Me and my Dad are going to be using a flash pass no matter what, but what do we have to do? Get 1 flash pass gold for the both of us? Or a Flash Pass Gold for each of us? 3.) Hershey Park - Any discounts soon? 4.) Busch Gardens Europe - Any discounts soon? (Again) Also, is the new fast pass system thingy worth it? Thanks everyone for your help! ~Vffreak07
larrygator Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I'll try to help out with #1 and #4 #1 - Personally I think Avalanche is worth $6 and 30 minutes of your time. I consider it my 2nd favorite coaster. #4 - Busch Gardens gets very crowded on weekends. If you will be there on a Saturday or Sunday the new Fast Pass is worth it if you hate waiting on lines and enjoy multiple rides on coasters. You should be able to get everything in withut it but if you want repeats get the Fast Pass.
Vffreak07 Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 I'm actually going to Busch Gardens on either a Thursday or a Friday.
larrygator Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I was at Busch Gardens last Friday, July 11th and here is my experience. I got there at 2PM and the overflow parking lots were not open yet. I stayed until almost closing and here is what I did. Griffon - 5 times (it is worth using the single rider line if open, if you don't need to ride right next to your dad) Alpengeist - 2 times Apollos Chariot - 3 times Big Bad Wolf - 1 time Loch Ness Monster - 1 time Darkastle - 1 time Corkscrew Hill - 1 time also spent 20 in Brewmaster's Tasting (highly recommended but you have to be 21 to attend). I could have rushed and done more but went back on Saturday for a couple more hours.
Airtime&Gravity Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 If you buy your SFGAM tickets online, you only pay kid's price. As for the flash pass, you select the ride you want from the rides on the system. A message on the screen will tell you to wait until the system can accept you(around 5 minutes), and you then go to the ride. Depending on when you go, you might not need it. If you only have a few hours available, then definitely get it, and if you visit on a weekend, then it would be wise to get one. As for Avalanche, it is worth the detour as it is such a great ride. Bring some extra money as you'll want to re-ride it over and over again.
Vffreak07 Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 Okay cool, will do for Avalanche, but again, we're going to SFGAM on a Sunday, so do me & my dad need a seperate flash pass for each of us? Or one to share?
Vffreak07 Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 New Problem: Alright so we are planning on getting a new camera, and so we are going to get a larger one such as the one below: But then my dad started freaking out about how people are going to want to steal it and how we'll have no place to put it, so it's pointless. Any ideas on how I can bring it along and keep it safe? Also, the reason I don't want to bring our current one is because it takes pictures like this:
Airtime&Gravity Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 For Flashpass, you can put up to six people on one system. Since it will just be you and your dad, it will cost around $70 for two people. I would suggest that you leave your camera in the car, and then pick it up later when you want to teak a break from riding coasters.
NegaDuck Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 4. - I can answer this one. Right now you can get a two-day adult ticket for the price of a child ticket HERE. There are other good offers at the VAVacationValues site for BGW, CW, and WC USA. Careful not to lose that camera on the Griffon, haha. Have fun!
mcjaco Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 One. Yes, you must do Avalanche. Best $6 you'll spend on the trip. Two. GAm's tickets are now $34.99 for everyone, all the time. I'd buy them online to avoid the line for tickets. Three. You need one Flashpass, in which you'll pay for two people to use.
