Nosferatu Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Hi. Men and Viking 86 is going on our first trip to the New York area, and need some advice. We have a rental car for a week, and plan to visist the following parks: -Astroland -Six Flags Great Adventure (2 days) -Hershey Park (one and a half day) -Knoebels -Playland -Quassy -Lake Compounce -Six Flags New England Does anyone know any cheap places to stay close to SF Gadv, Hershey and SFNE, Also are those parks so close to a town that you can leave the park for a hour too eat? Knoebels seems to be kind of in the middle of nowhere. I have printed directions from mapquest. Anything special we should be aware of? Like a road being closed etc? And finally, anyone know of any discounts or something like that? We're spending two days at SFGadv, and one at SFNE, so should we have a season pass. Also is flash pass a good idea at SFGADV on our first day, since its a Sunday? We would really appreciate any help Also are there any low capacity rides in those parks we should hit fast ?
andy_e219 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 I can only give you some advice on Hersheypark: There are several hotels around the area, I know when I was there last year we stayed in some cheap place called Econo Lounge or somthing for like 60 bucks. The park from what I remember is within 3 minutes of some fast food places, you can leave the park and be back in probably less than an hour. Hope this helps.
Looty Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Last time I was at SFGAD, I got a gold QBot...it was totally worth it. I had such an awesome time and it was nice getting plenty of rides on El Toro. As far as Hershey goes...if you aren't doing the waterpark then you probably don't need 1.5 days. Knoebels is awesome although I ended up getting really lost. I also printed mapqwest directions and it totally messed us up so double check the direction you have for Knoebels.

We stayed their this past weekend. The prices were good, the person at the desk was pretty dumb. Its not even ten minutes away from the park. If all three of you are going to stay in the same room, its $10 extra for every adult after two.
pacoasterrider Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 i've been to a ton of these parks, since i live in the area, here's what i can offer . Hershey-get there early! i like being at the park when the gates open, especally if you want to have short lines everywhere. I'd also try to get there on a weekday if possible. Do not pass up a front row seat on Storm Runner, front row seat on Great Bear, and a back row seat with a full train on all the woodies. Lightning racer doesn't run full trains until the afternoon, and you won't get the full impact of the ride unless you do. Knoebels- dont buy tickets or any pass, i belive it's no more then 3$ a ride on Phoenix and Twister each, unless you are looking to ride a lot of flats and hit up the waterpark. If you're just there for the coasters, you can just walk in and get some tickets and ride and save money. Knoebels is in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. Here's what i'd do. Visit Knoebels in the day, leave around 8 and drive to Hershey and stay in a hotel there. Then you can get to Hershey really early. I don't think there's to many hotels up in Elysburg (knoebels), and it's about a 2 hr drive at the longest between Hershey and Knoebels. If you leave the park and head west on the road that goes around the parking lot and giant center there's a slu of fast food joints about 2 miles down the road. KFC, Wendys, Pizza Hut, MickeyD's to name a few, that's where i usually go. There's also a Wendys right across from Lightning Racer, but you cant walk from the park to there unless you want to cross like 4 lanes of highway. SF-get the qbot! all i can say.
