Kennyweird Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Hi there, fellow TPR people! Me and my family just got back from Hershey yesterday and I have a crapload of photos to show you. Instead of babbling on about how my trip was, I think I'll just let the photo captions do the talking. I'll end this Photo TR with a gorgeous shot of Fahrenheit with the sun behind it. Thanks for reading. As we were leaving Hershey the minivan's thermometer registered an appropriate 97*F. There was also this funky looking Stormrunner mug... hey, wait a second. Look at the track. Stormrunner isn't B&M! and even Fahrenheit eyeglass cases. There were also Fahrenheit mugs... They also had the kind with the tacky graphics on it. Originally, we were going to go back to Hersheypark for a half day on Tuesday, but we were so wiped, we opted out of it. Instead we did our souvenir shopping on Tuesday. I bought this lovely Fahrenheit shirt. The last ride of the night was Fahrenheit. Here you can see satisfied riders reentering the station. This time I rode in the back. Remember that little airtime hill towards the end of the ride? When you ride in the back, that little hill produces INSANE airtime! Credit #57- Roller Soaker. I came to Hersheypark determined to get this credit, and I did. It wasn't easy, though. The ride broke down right before I was about ready to board, so I waited at the entrance patiently for about an hour while they fixed it. When it opened back up, I was one of the first people in line. Eric: 1, Roller Soaker: 0 Splash! I'm starting to go mad with the heat. I think it's time to put on some swim trunks and hit the Boardwalk. While I'm at it, I can get my final Hersheypark credit, Roller Soaker! Credit #56-Lightning Racer. I enjoyed this a lot better than Wildcat. It was smoother, and the dueling/racing aspect made it pretty cool. Next was Wild Mouse. This was definitely the most insane wild mouse I've ever been on. I already have this credit from my last trip. I think this is one cat that needs to be neutered with some trim brakes; it was pretty darn rough. Credit #55- Wildcrap...er, I mean cat. Credit #53- The Great Bear. I thought this was a fairly decent B&M invert. Definitely looked like it was a pain to design and install, considering its proximity to Coal Cracker and Sooperdooperlooper (Credit #54). Holy crap! Look at the legs on those climbers! They're hideous! More weird, crappy theming. (Sorry for the blurry pictures, I didn't have my camera set correctly.) Announcer 1: "Hey, Bob, why isn't that teenager playing Reese's Extreme Cup Challenge?" Announcer 2: "I don't know, Ron, maybe because it sucks and he'd rather take pictures of its crappiness instead." Next up, Reese's Extreme Cup Challenge. This has to be one of the worst interactive dark rides I've ever been on. The back story was pointless, and the theming looked rushed. Besides, we all know chocolate is better than peanut butter. See? Read my sweaty brow! IT WAS HOT!!! It was stupidly hot that day, almost 97*F, but without the "and falling fast" part. After Trailblazer, we went and rode the Frontier Flyers. Flyers are always fun! Trailblazer's Arrow crappiness gets my seal of approval. After Stormrunner we headed over to Trailblazer for some good old Arrow mine train crappiness. As you can see, Trailblazer was a walk-on. I already have this credit from my last trip. One of Stormrunner's elements A picture of Stormrunner's top hat. Credit #52-Stormrunner. IMO, not as good as Fahrenheit, but still, a solid Intamin coaster. This one definitely has a case of the Intamin rattle if there ever was one. Credit #51- Sidewinder. This was my first experience with a Vekoma Boomerang. I thought the ride forward was okay, but the ride backwards was brutal. More yummy first drop goodness. OMG!! I'm touching one of Fahrenheit's footers! I'm SOOOO COOL!!! Corkscrew goodness. Norwegian loop yumminess. Fahrenheit is just so awesome! That first drop is pretty sick as well. That vertical lift adds a lot to the ride experience. Here's a picture of Fahrenheit's weird drive tire arrangement found right before the lift. But by the time we got up to the station, the line had really filled up. The line was really short when we first got to Fahrenheit. Credit #50-Fahrenheit. I'm really glad I chose to make this my 50th credit, it totally kicked Stormrunner's @$$. Here's a shot of the Comet's station. The guy in the lane next to me asked an attendant which side he's supposed to board from. His question made me want to shout, "The side your standing on, stupid!", but obviously common sense told me otherwise. Credit #49- The Comet. The Comet is a great out and back woodie. Surprisingly, The Comet had a relatively short line all day (as did most of the coasters), probably due to the extreme heat. The next day we went to Hersheypark. Is this the first credit of the day? Only if your name is Jeff Johnson. After getting back to the hotel, I decided to take a dip in their pool. BAD IDEA! The chlorine was so potent it made my left eyelid swell. Something else I forgot to include earlier. It's a picture of Lightning Racer as seen from Red Robin. Artsy, huh? Oh, yeah, I forgot to include this earlier. It's a picture of one of those Hershey kiss street lamps. They add a nice touch to the town. Like I said, this is a chocolate lover's Mecca. It has every conceivable Hershey product in stock. Me and a 5 lb. chocolate bar. Yeah, you heard me right, a 5 lb. chocolate bar. The guy at the end gave me a ton of free chocolate. OMG! It's Elvis! The totally random, acid-tripish finale to the ride. What's with those cows? More random, fake machines. Now it's time to add the milk, which means being blasted with more of the "Hershey's Milk Chocolate" song, as sung by those three dairy cows. The hall of endless chocolate liquor machines (that aren't real). WE'RE BEING ROASTED ALIVE!!!! Here are the cocoa beans, fresh out of some third world country, about ready to be processed into various Hershey products. One that note, your immediately subjected to three cows singing the "Hershey's Milk Chocolate" song. Creepy talking man-cow says, "This entire ride is one giant Hershey advertisement." I wonder what happened to the original Bonastar. Hmmm... From there, the cocoa beans are loaded onto ships of questionable seaworthiness bound for the US. We then rode the Great American Chocolate Tour, which is an educational dark ride that teaches you how Hershey chocolate is made by taking you through a non-functional mock-up of the Hershey factory. First, the cocoa beans are grown in Indiana Jones-esque rainforests complete with booby trapped ruins. After dinner, we went to a chocolate lover's Mecca, aka Chocolate World. For dinner, we went to the Red Robin right next to the park, where I nearly choked on an ice cube. How pathetic! I took a picture of this because it seemed to insinuate that our room doubled as a fireworks store. This picture was behind the front desk. I forget what type of Chance ride this is, but whatever it is, I've ridden it before, and I hated it! However, we stayed in a typical Hampton Inn room. No suites for us! We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Chocolate Avenue. It had a pretty swanky lobby. Feast your eyes upon the Hershey plant, the source of all things Hershey. After 4 hours of sheer boredom, Hersheypark's roller coasters finally came into view. We began the 4 hour drive to Hershey around 3:00 PM, Sunday afternoon. These are the windmills that are outside of Somerset. They're kind of cool.

Immelman Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Very cool pictures! I was there last week and it was pretty hot then, I don't even want to imagine 97 degrees. I agree the Extreme Cup Challenge is pretty bad. The only thing extreme about it is it's lameness.

Ccron10 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Wow. So that's what the queue line looks like. They should cover it more and get better queue railings like the ones over at Storm Runner. I have that same black FH t-shirt! I got it back during STITP and it seems like they got more merchandise.

They never got terribly long; Fahrenheit's was the longest but that's simply because it's new and the GP is itching to try it out. By late afternoon/early evening, however, both Stormrunner's and Fahrenheit's lines were about 10 minutes or less. Keep in mind it was really hot when I was there, so there really wasn't a large amount of people to begin with, and most of those who were there left early because the heat just got worse as the afternoon progressed. Therefore I can't speak for a typical summer day at HP.
