robbalvey Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Hey everyone, I wanted to bring your attention to an email I recieved today from a group that is apparently attemng to "Save Clementon's Jack Rabbit." The email basically told me to click on the following link and subscribe to magazines: http://mygrouppage2.efundraising.com/Home.aspx?pID=Pj2CvTnOMdM%3d&eID=291&touch_id=552524 The more magazines I subscribe to, the better chance they have of saving the Jack Rabbit. WHAT?!?!?!? Is this even legit? I'm sorry, but I just don't see how ordering a subscription to "Good Housekeeping" is going to generate the millions needed to "save a rotting roller coaster!" They mention nothing about how much they need, or what the plan would be if they actually DID raise enough money. If this even is legit, this is the worst attempt I've ever seen at a "Preservation" attempt! My reccomendation would be not to support this. You're probably better off "buying a whale" for Whalon Park...and we all saw how well that worked! Then again, it's more effort than anything I've seen ACE do in the past few years! --Robb "Where is that museum located again?" Alvey
PhishyBrewer Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 How would Goofy say it?... "Something wrong here?!"
Homey G. Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 They'd be better served to take pictures of them by Jack Rabbit with lit torches in their hand and trying the "Save Toby" approach.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 This sounds all too familiar http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17115 // DIE, Jack Rabbit, DIE!
DenDen Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 I see they sold a whopping ZERO subscriptions. Niether of these sites looks legit, especially since they're using FREE email accounts. (BIG warning sign!)
outlaw Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 While the save Jack Rabbit part is a complete scam and lie, the magazine you probably will receive. These scams are fairly common where I live, they give you a great cause to give your money into, and in turn they send you the magazine you received, and the company selling magazines makes a huge profit while the chairty, or whatever it might be gets nothing. Usually this scam is run by college kids in a Wal-Mart parking lot, usually they claim that they are doing a college class for media or sales, and part of their "grade" is going out making a sales presentation selling magazines to raondom people vulnerable in the parking lot, but after the presentation, they hope they have buttered you up enough, and will try to make you buy. It is nothnig but a complete scam, these poor kids are brainwashed into making it sound honest and legit. Now, I believe they are taking the scam online, as they are probably tired of these college kids havign car doors slammed in their faces, or being cursed at for trying to sell magazines. Definitely do not trust any of these, I know all to well what these magazine companies are up to.
