Heading over to Disneyland/sea in Oct this year and was wondering if you guys can suggest somewhere to stay, that is close by and since i am going by myself hopefully not too pricey.

Also since i cannot speak a word of Japanesse, would it be wise to learn a couple of words?

The trip will be very quick just 3 nights/4 days.

Thanks

Yes, please learn at least 20 basic words/phrases/numbers.

I guarantee it will make your short stay much better!

As for where to stay, how close do you want to be to the resort. If you want to be on the Disney Monorail Line in October (depending on when you go) you're looking at a minimum of about $300 a night to $500 a night.

If you're okay being farther away there are a ton of places within an hour of the park on the Tokyo Rail System for around $100.

Knowing a little Japanese can help, but isn't 100% mandatory, especially if you're going to DisneySea. Just about all front line CMs there have the ability to at least understand some basic English, most speak basic English as well, and beyond that, they're good with pointing & have pictures on menus at restaurants. They'll speak a lot of Japanese to you, whether you're understanding it or not, but their body language (lots of smiles, pleasant mannerisms, grateful presentation of your souvenir neatly tucked into a bag for you) tells you everything of what they're saying.

Beyond that, just about all signs/maps are in both English and Japanese. All train ticket machines have an 'english' button that automatically switches the on-screen interface to english. It all really works out well.

Have fun! I'm sad I won't be able to go this year after going the past 2 years.

I would guess with my limited use of japanesse ( and will learn about 20 words or so ) i would be better off staying close to the resort area, but in saying that nice to know that the ticket machines use english.

I must admit i always new that Japan was not cheap ( the airfare to get there is and the Disney tickets are not too bad ), but some of the hotel prices are just silly. The Hilton Tokyo Bay was nearly $3,500au for 5 days!!

Since i will be staying only a couple of days and that October is the off season, i should be able to get nearly everything done, yes?

Just got a great rate at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo ( A Disney Partner Hotel ) for $195.00au a night for 3 nights in October a saving of $300.00au per night.
