chmilo24 Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 ^^ I know, in high school it's all about Element, Zero, and Dark Star, then college is all about longboards. Its like we evolve.
sfotkid Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I've already tried longboards, I dunno I guess its not really my style.
chmilo24 Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 ^ You sure. There is nothing better than crusin down a street, it is just surfing a wave.
Angry_Gumball Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Personally, I find longboarding more relaxing and seems to be a more laid-back environment. What form of longboarding do you do? (Downhill, dancing/boardwalking? general cruising?) I've pretty much picked up interest in the whole boardwalking thing along with cruising...I'm far to nervous to bomb a huge hill. By the way, I mentioned about custom boards. Here's one of my mini's (maybe thinking of trimming it down a few more inches so that it's less likely to snap and can be 1 crazy ride.
chmilo24 Posted April 18, 2008 Author Posted April 18, 2008 I mostly like crusin but I have been boardwalking a lot lately. There arn't a lot of hills in Sacramento so my dream one day is to bomb down Nob Hill in SF or try like salom down Twin Peaks.
Angry_Gumball Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I need to start practicing that cross stepping...my goal is to be able to walk a Humu-sized board, which is probably my next project. (If you're not sure what a Humu is, check out www.longboardlarry.net)
sfotkid Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Meh, I don't have many hills around here, so its kinda hard to coast. Besides, I surf, and its kinda the same, but theres nothin' better being out in the big blue..
chmilo24 Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 ^That is true. Except where I live, its either the great green or big brown.
sfotkid Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 LOL, thats funny cause it's true. Here in Texas I wakeboard on the lakes, its kinda fun..
chmilo24 Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 ^Well if I'm not mistaken, the water in Texas and Sacramento are the same color. If I still lived in SF, then I don't think I would skate as much, except when I would go to school, go home, go to work, go to a friend's house, go to my parents house, go to eat, and go get food. So the only difference is instead of surfing, I'm wake boarding, skim boarding, snowboarding, and mountain boarding.
Angry_Gumball Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I know this thread is dead, but I thought I'd post my latest ride...yes, I'm that hyped up about it. I guess it makes up for that not getting a coaster/thrill ride at CGA this year. It's called the "G-Bomb" which the brackets on the end are able to adjust the truck's angles to tweak the responsiveness or stability when riding down hills or flats on the fly via a quick-release lever. The deck has 'camber' (an upward bowing, the center of the deck is higher than the ends) and is quite flexible and springy. You can't really buy these in the store (yet) as the company's quite small and new. But anyway, here she is! I have yet to take it down some hills for some fun carving but I have pumped (weaving left/right to accelerate without pushing) it to a decent speed easily. The deck with brackets were $120, the trucks $40ish, and I'd say that the wheels would be $40ish...so the entire setup maybe around $200 or so. It rides like a B&M...that smooth. And it is extremely versitile![/img]
chmilo24 Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 ^I have never seen anything like that. One of my friends works at a Surf&Skate and said they had two boards that fit the picture you posted. I guess I need to go over there and get a quick demo. But I doubt I'd buy one. --Chris
Angry_Gumball Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 probably one of these? I have seen the older version of these at a local overpriced skate smoke piercing shop costing almost $300. I see these as the competitor to what I have.
Yankee cannonball Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I own a sh*t board and I really want to learn to skate, but There are a lot of hills in the area I live in, so I can't really learn that well. EDIT: I know this thread is totally dead but I hope I can get some help with this.
chmilo24 Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 ^SO you skateboard? The hills should be better for you cause you don't have to push as hard. --Chris

EDIT: I know this thread is totally dead but I hope I can get some help with this. Get yourself a nice longboard, those can take on hills much better than standard 'kickflipper' boards due to stability. If you're just into the ride and don't give 2 hoots about doing grinds, kickflips, etc and just want to carve up hills, may want to invest in one.
mike541x Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Ahh. Skateboarding. Good times! I used to skate but I quit about three years ago. A lot of my friends quit and a lot others still do. I remember when Patomic Mills mall still had the Vans Skatepark. My friends and I had good times there. I still own a Geoff Rowley Flip board. But I'm rarely into skating anymore.
Yankee cannonball Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 *Revives thread Frankenstein-style* It lives! Anyway, I started really learning to skateboard yesterday. I just want to get good enough to skate around downtown, and see where things go from there. I found a basketball court near my house that I can walk to, and I'm already improving after two days
