Out of curiousity...

How accomodating are the B&M flying coasters for "larger passengers". Not only as far as seat size and comfort, but also for weight limit.

Think about it, the ride is hurtling you through the air with your body pressing on the harness and leg restraints, but how much force can they take? I guess its not that big of a deal. We have yet to hear about any instances of people falling off of them.

A lot of people talk about issues with Intamin rides, but have you noticed many people getting turned away from the B&M flyers?

The weight limit on the harnesses you mention would be far above the weight (x G's) for anyone that could physically fit into the seats. There probably is some published upper weight limit, but because the seats are designed to fit an 'average' body size/shape range, anyone near the weight limit wouldn't be able to fit in the seat and close the harness properly.

^Yeah, when I went to Alton Tower on a school trip two years ago, a guy in my year who is obese couldn't get his resistant down, so not one, but TWO employees came over and were both applying there weight on the resistant but still couldn't get it down properly. He was asked to leave the queue. I think the park gave him a fast pass for some of the family rides in a way of apologizing. But I wouldn't worry, this guy is 25 stone.

They are more accomodating than a regular seat on an invert or floorless. I am able to buckle the belt myself on those type of rides but barely. On SUF, I can get the restraint down to the second level/second click. I think the cutoff would be if someone can not fit in a regular invert or floorless seat and has to use the larger seat but are only barely not able to fit in a regular seat, they would fit in a flyer seat.

Okay, park fans, here's my take on B&M Flying Coasters and their restraints:

I never had any problems fitting into those seats even though I'm 250 pounds (and still trying to lose more) and six feet tall. My gripe is the kiddie coasters: I cannot get on them because I will either need some kiddie with me and/or they won't let such a large size adult ride on (so I don't collect kiddie credits!!! )!

Okay, I'm getting off the subject. Where was I? Oh Yeah . . .

The way these restraints are designed, there's no way anyone could fly out of them short of having the darn things come undone . . .

"I like that idea. I should have a coaster that does that in my realm and call it 'Bat Out Of Hell'"!

and I'm pretty sure those restraints can fit most anyone that doesn't need a wheelbarrow to haul their big fat gut around. But don't take my word on it being that I've never seen anyone get barred from ridding a flying coaster due to being too large to fit in the restraints.

"Hey, devil, you just gave us a great idea for a future coaster for Hard Rock Park - a flying coaster themed to 'Bat Out Of Hell'" Thanks a lot!

"Oh, you liked that idea? Well, I got several more ideas that should make you all happy and . . . WHAT? I'm not suppose to make people happy with my ideas! And if Hard Rock Park steals that idea from me, there will be H,E, (double hockey sticks) to pay!"

"And we will be there to bless this coaster, if it's ever made, so there will be no payout. Isn't that wonderful?"

" Aww, kiss my !!!

I'm 6' 2" and a bit over 250 lbs and I fit in Tatsu's seats with plenty of room to spare. You can clearly see where the restraint locks in position on the ride and there were 2 additional "clicks" that it could have moved outward to accomodate someone even larger than myself. They were also some of the most comfortable restraints of any ride that I've ever ridden. Oh yeah, and the ride itself was awesome!

I'm 6'3" and 260 lbs. I fit into Tastu, Superman: Ultimate Flights, and Air with little problems. I think I get two clicks. On B&M floorless and sit-downs, I can pull down the OSTR, but sometimes I need help from the ride op to buckle the strap.
