I am currently trying to edit a video, and every time I go to the "Fast/Slow/Reverse" effect and a handful of other effects, I run into this problem:

I selected the clip in my time line that I want to edit and highlight the "Fast/Slow/Reverse" option.

Like normal it gives me a preview of what the effect will do to the clip.

I apply and it begins to render the clip

But, once it is done rendering it is like the clip was never there.

All that remains of the clip is a black (blank) space.

HELP!

I'm not all that familiar with iMovie, I'm more used to Final Cut Pro.

This could be just a glitch and there might be a patch available for it, my first instinct would be to check for software updates. Also maybe check to see if you have enough hard drive space for the new clip. <> (never mind I see you have plenty of space)

If you're in desperate need for an answer now, I'd search Google. Google has solved many a software problem in the past for me.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

What kind of file/codec are the original clips? My only guess is that the clip is in some weird format that iMovie can't render properly with that effect.

Also, I'd search through discussions.apple.com and see if anyone else is running into the same isuee.

Hey Top Thrill...

I'm a professional (or I'd like to think I am) editor...I use a Canopus system.

I've been ridiculed and finally buckled down (impulse-purchased) and got a Mac...since I needed to keep producing and didnt want such a big learning curve...I tried the iMovie. What I found that although it has its quirks, it is a pretty decent easy to learn consumer product.

Regarding the slo-mo function...I found that same problem occurred...try to drag the clip somewhere else b/c sometimes the clip that you are working on is hidden under the black clip.

Also, be careful about where you load your final work to...I found that the slo-mo looked fine on my Mac. However, when I transferred it to a DVD it looked robotic. Needless to say...my Titanium now functions as a coffee table book.

Actually....looking the last image of your page shots...it looks like your clip is next to the blank one on your timeline.

I hope this helps.
