TatsuTerror
Hello all, I'm not positive it is alright to post an advertisement for my site here, so if it's not a mod can go ahead and lock this. I would like to let you all know that as of earlier this year, a new site has opened up. CoasterCapture, I believe, has some of the highest of quality coaster photographs you'll find anywhere. While the selection of parks isn't immense at the moment, I hope to expand greatly in the next few years. As I am the sole contributor of content, I hope you understand the lack of park diversity. Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome as always, as I am hoping that feedback will help me improve the site as a whole. Thanks, Daniel
exit english
I thought your coaster close-ups thread was an advertisement for your site...
TatsuTerror
I wanted to know if people appreciated that kind of photography and if anyone takes the same type. Many have posted their own closeup photos in the thread. It's turned into a "post your closeup pictures" thread, and I'd like to have one to advertise the site specifically. I think that's reason enough for a new thread. In addition, I get comments on those photos, but not any on the site because that isn't what I made the thread for. matteocrepaldi
Your web site is awesome! I love those pictures! I've put it straight into my favourites as soon as I found it! Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Daniel[/quote] While you do have some good shots, I think a lot of what you have is pretty average for a decent photo TR. What I mean is you don't have many interesting angles and some of the photos seem to be lacking. Also, the colors in some of the photos seem kind of bland, maybe you could retouch them a little in PS? That would make them jump out a little more. TatsuTerror
Well, obviously not every photo can be outstanding. If I only posted my best the selection would be even worse than it is already. As far as angles, I try my best to find the best ones. You'll see most of that in closeup photos though. Regarding PS, I choose to leave my pictures alone for the most part, as I feel it is unnatural to over edit them...anyone can make a sky look bluer by pressing a button, and it may look slightly more eye pleasing, but I think it just becomes too fake. No, I didn't mean over edit them. I just meant retouch the photos to how they would look as you see the object in real life. You can even make them a little more vibrant then they would normally be, just don't make it too noticeable. I hate when people say that post processing photos is wrong. Anytime you adjust the settings on your camera(White balance, color temperature, ISO, ect) you are changing the look and realism of the photo. How is that any different than PS? For example, your Alton Tower's Air pictures. I know it's a drab day, but the pictures don't exactly have to be drab and washed out. A little PS would go a long way. Those pictures have good potential.

Whenever (well, almost whenever) I adjust a setting on my camera, I am trying to make the picture come out just like what I am seeing. I do agree with you about some of the Alton Towers pictures. However, when the sky comes out white in all the photos, it is hard to make much improvement. A lot of pictures is just luck of where you are and when you are there. exit english
I gotta admit - jmmcalip's 100% right. I understand you're all about preserving the way you took the photo and everything, but if you do it that way, it's just another photo. You have to have something that truly "pops" in your picture to distinguish it from the other guys'. You won't have to edit all of your photos, but Photoshop is really great at one thing (besides photochopped images), and that's getting the best out of your camera. The image quality is already there, but "developing" them in Photoshop brings it out. Here's an example: I took this picture in Snoopy's Summer Vacation at CP. It's a great photo, and turned out absolutely awesome. However, I wanted to capture more of the "feeling" of that part of the show, so I ran a soft focus filter over it, and warmed up the lighting ever so slightly, and I think I got it dead on. It's a much more "emotional" picture. See before and After below: AFTER - Nothing's really changed or over-processed, but the presentation is there. TatsuTerror
Your point is proven. However, the picture you have there is beautiful to begin with. It's harder to 'save' a picture is than it is to make little improvements like you did. All your comments have been taken into my consideration, and I will possibly process the next batch (most likely from Las Vegas) a bit more than I have been. I am just worried about having a fake look to them.
