For Christmas I am getting a Scorpion model. I have a few questions...

1.) Can I "easily" make a custom layout?

2.) Is it a wise idea to paint the track before putting the model together?

3.) I am getting the Griffon train, will this run on my model?

4.) Does it come with enough track to work with?

5.) How long do they usually take to assemble?

Thanks!

1. Once you get the hang of it, you should be fine.

2. I wouldn't think so. The pain can cause increased friction.

3. Yes, but you will need to get a set of metal wheels to replace the plastic one on the Griffon train

4. Yes, everything you need to build the scorpion model is included. Support and track expansion packs are available at www.coasterdynamix.com

5. I'm not sure, but I'd say 3-4 hours at the least.

Instead of buying all new wheels, could I just take the ones off of the train that comes with the Scorpion model? Now that the Apollo's Chariot trains are coming out, I may buy one of those instead of the Griffon train.

I think that CD is in the process of manufacturing wheel specifically for the Statix trains. If I'm correct, you will not be able to use Scorpion train wheels on your Statix trains. The new wheels (which are not yet available) will be specifically for that purpose.

For your other questions, I have never painted my Dragon, so I couldn't give you much info on that. It is pretty darned easy to make a custom layout. The sharper you want it to look, the more time you'll end up putting into it (but it's fun time, I promise). You should have plenty of track to work with. If you decide you want more, expansion packs are available. Hope this helps. Welcome to the world of CoasterDynamix. Enjoy your upcoming addiction
