Sean Menefee Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 This was just recently posted over at Discovery Kingdom's homepage: http://www.sixflags.com/discoveryKingdom/events/HolidayInThePark.aspx Make Six Flags Discovery Kingdom a part of your family's holiday tradition. For the first time ever, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will ring in the season with more than a million dazzling lights, fimiliar and time-honored themed areas, holiday-themed shows and plenty of wintertime fun. Holiday in the Park is the perfect way to enjoy the wonder and magic of the season with your entire family. The magic begins November 23! Below are some unique Holiday in the Park highlights, with more exciting details to be revealed as the holiday season draws closer: * Santa's Workshop - It's the 21st century and Santa Claus has kept up with the pace of technology, as tradition mixes with modern day in this charming take on Santa's workshop. Kids should have their wish list and holiday smiles ready, as Santa will be on hand to take notes and pose for pictures. * Candy Cane Lane - Wander through a delightful canopy of larger-than-life candy canes, lollipops and other holiday treats while enjoying the beautiful vista of Lake Chabot. Make sure to bring your sweet tooth! * Toyland - "The bigger the better" comes to mind as every child's dream of running through a maze of giant toys comes true. See an enormous teddy bear, a gigantic Nutcracker soldier and wrapped gifts and ornaments the size of refrigerators! They've all been specially delivered to the park and will magically "come to life" in a wonderful holiday show. * Christmas Tree Forest - Nothing says Christmas like the smell of fresh pine trees. Stop and gaze at this beautiful collection of Christmas trees - all adorned with spectacular holiday lights as the melodious sounds of "O Christmas Tree" fill the air. * Winter Wonderland - Who says it never snows in Northern California! Giant snowflakes, icicles and blankets of snow have transformed Lakeside Pavilion into an enchanting winter wonderland. Frosty the Snowman has found a home in this special place and yummy holiday treats abound! * New holiday-themed shows - What also separates this event from any other is the chance to see the park's star animals in all-new holiday shows. Shouka the killer whale will enrapture audiences in "Dream"; the park's sea lions and otters are showcased in a comedic performance of "Super-Spirited Sea Lions Save Christmas"; and the park's popular dolphins will work their magic during "A Dolphin Holiday." Your best bet to enjoy all the exciting and new attractions at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, including Holiday in the Park is by purchasing a 2007 Season Pass! It's nice to see were finally getting an extended season back at Discovery Kingdom.
coastrfreak2000 Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Holiday in the Park seems very... interesting.... Is SFMM going to do an event like this?
KGA29 Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Let's see how successful this is in its first year. GG has had a holiday event for the past few years and the first year they had their issues, but now it is going in full swing and is a very fun event. Hopefully, SFDK can attract enough people to keep this going annually.
speedracer Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Bad news coming out of Screamscape: The problem however is that Medusa may be closed still for repainting during most of the run of Holiday In The Park which starts November 23rd. While we’re on the subject of closed coasters, we’ve also heard that Roar and V2 are also slated to be closed for winter rehabs during Holiday In The Park which if left unchanged will mean that the only big coasters that will be open for Holiday In The Park will be Kong and Boomerang. Hope this is wrong, I realize the holiday stuff is the main focus, but I was really looking forward to night riding my Medusa and Roar (was just too crowded last month). With the reduced admission, probably correct. At least Boomerang will still provide some aerial views of the bazillion lights.
Sticky Nicky Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 ^If they don't roll it on like Ninja at SFMM, they could have it done in early to mid December. So you might still be able to have your Midnight ride on it.
