d_gil
Hi, I’m planning a trip to Orlando and Tampa this September (With fingers crossed for good weather) My initial plan is as follow, any comments on the hotels I chose, trip layout etc. from you guys would be welcomed as I am not from the u.s.a... Universal studios - probably 12th till 15 of September. As crowds should not be as bad at this time (after labor day),I chose to stay off site at the best western inn across universal main gate. Do you think it is a good idea to save money by staying off site at these dates and not having the express pass thingy for resort guests? I’ll probably use public transportation (lynx) to get to the park itself - as I understood getting across to the park is still a 20 min walk across very wide streets with no side walks... At the afternoon of the 15th - hire a car and drive down to Tampa To do BGT.staying at la quinta inn near BG , doing the park at the 16th and maybe the 17th At the 18th - driving straight from Tampa to Kennedy centre for the day *Hope it is a good idea..i read horror stories on several sites about the driving conditions of the i-4. i guess is should ride out of tampa REALLY early in the morning to avoid traffic ? any input on this issue? * at the evening - drive back to Orlando, drop the car off and head to WDW pop century for 5 nights That's it! gisco
Why don't you go to Cypress Gardens and Seaworld while your here? They have a 5 park pass for $225 that is good for unlimited use for 14 days. The parks are IOA, Universal, BGT, Seaworld and Wet N Wild. I
downunder
I was in Orlando last year around the same time and weekdays were pretty quiet at IOA, all rides were a walk on. Universal had slightly longer lines but nothing substantial except Men in Black (you can bypass the line by using the single rider line which I strongly recommend as it turns the ride into a walk on). So I would say you wouldn't need express priveleges. With Busch Gardens, they have a shuttle that goes there and back for ten bucks if I remember correctly, the details are on the BGT website - this should be less expense and stress than a hire car. d_gil
Thanks guys for replying, gisco - i think these passes are good for one visit to each park don't they? i dont have time to fit in sea world and cypress guardens basicly wanna have 2 days at BGT,about 3.5 at universal and 6 at disney..so i am not sure this ticket will work out o.k for me downunder - i sure hope these short lines were not only beacuse of the weather last year...while the weather could be also bad this year i hope i'll make it through The BGT shuttle sceduall is not to good for my plans,i want to leave orlando late so i can have some more hours free to do universal in the morning, and i am going to stay in tampa for 3 days (paul mccartney gig!) and than want to head straight to kennedy centre in the morning...so i guess a car is the only option here. On a side note: The Disney express shuttle service thingy they offer from the airport to the hotel for thier on site guests - Do i have to use it the day my flight comes in? i want to use it when i get to orlando back from tampa... gisco
The pass is good for unlimited use over a 14 day period. The ticket may make sense when adding up the price of a 4 day ticket to Universal/IOA and 2 days in BGT. Check it out under tickets at any of the parks web sites. A side benifit of the ticket would be if your after coaster credits, you can run in and out at Seaworld to get Kraken and JTA either on your way to the space center or one of your days at Universal. I plan on doing this same trip next year. My only problem is I will have to do it in the summer because my kids are in school.
SharkTums
I-4 is Bad...not Los Angeles BAD, but Bad. Try to avoid it during 8 -10am and 4-7pm when traffic+construction=Bad! Like Gisco said, it sounds like the "orlando flex ticket" is a good idea for you. 14 days of unlimited admission and 'hopping' between Universal, IOA, Sea World, Wet n Wild, and Busch for around $240. d_gil
about the flexticekt: a 5 days bonus pass to universal is 99.9$ (i only have 4 days top to be there) 2 days at BG are about 70$ (if i understood their 2 day ticket thingy over here: http://commerce.4adventure.com/store/dept_tickets.asp?ShopperID=U3D5C264DD3364D0A9CBB98E41EA9A56&Token=KHMFGDKEDDJFDDI&dept_id=205&redirect=1) total is still lower than the flexticket price... i'll try to avoid rush hours at i-4,still i wish there was a way around it which is not too complicated .. Thanks guys!
