coasters 4 me Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Hey, So, it was my second holiday to Lake Garda. I was there last year. I didn't get around to posting a Trip Report. So, here goes this one. Left Belfast at about 11am and arrived in Bergamo at about 2pm. Flew with Jet2. If you ever have to fly with them, they are pretty good. Nice staff and service. Hired a car and got a Blue Fiat Punto Grande. We stayed 2 weeks there. The weather was pretty crazy compaired to back home in Ireland. Usually about 35C, were as home it's usually about 15C. Bergamo is about 70 Miles away from Lake Garda, so we had a sort of OK drive. All I can say is that Italians are crazy drivers. The speed limit was 130kmp/h and some were doing about 180kmp/h. And they don't use indicators!! One other thing I love about Lake Garda is all the Tunnels. In the town of Riva Del Garda, there was one about 3000m right through the mountains. Anyways, took about an hour to get to Lake Garda. We stayed in a town called Bardolino. Really nice town. About 20mins from the Highway. Most of the town is along the lake, you only really drive past it, not through it. It is really nice, as I just said. All the restaurants we went to were excellent. Same with the Ice-Cream shops, and the clothes shops. One thing about Italy is that a lot of the shops are really expensive. Alot seem to sell like D&G, Versace etc. But you still do get like Quiksilver, Billabong and labels like them. And there are some kick ass sales too!! I bought 4 T-Shirts and a few Shorts. We stayed in this apartment. It was....erm, pretty basic. And it sucked because the TV had not one English Channel, except a Stock-Exchange one. And also, there was no seperation between me and my parents, and my dad is a terrible snorer. So, I couldnt sleep most nights. The water down the bottom of the lake is really nice. Quite warm. Only, the bad thing is that all the beaches are pebbled, so it is really bad on your feet. But, the main thing is that sand doesnt go everywhere. While we stayed in Bardolino, we also visited Gardaland. Will probably do a Trip report sometime on it. We stayed in Bardolino for a week, then headed up to the north of Lake Garda to a down called Riva Del Garda. We stayed in this town last year. I love it. Riva Del Garda is about 30miles away. But it takes a while getting up due to the winding rounds on the lake. Riva Del Garda is one of my favourite downs. Restaurants are great, so are the shops and scenery. Riva Del Garda sits right at the bottom of a huge mountain. It is also beside the town of Torbole. The apartment here was alot better than the one in Bardolino. It kind of reminded me of a Swiss Alps Chalet or something. It was in the roof sections, and had really low beams. Also, TV had no English, but it did have MTV in Italian Style. Other towns we visited: -Sirmione -Desenzano -Limone -Torbole -Malcesine Ok, I think I will just let the pictures do the talking. Overall, Lake Garda is probably my favourite place I have been to, apart from Florida. It has everything I love. Pizza, Pasta, ice-Cream, shops, scenery and ofcourse Gardaland. Another thing is the amount of German People there. There are sooo many!! If anyone gets the chance to go there, I highly recomend it. Me, in Limone Our apartment. About 9 apartments altogether Swimming pool in our apartment in Riva Del Garda Looks like a tornado or something is gonna happen. This was from our apartment View from our apartment, in Riva Del Garda AGH!!! Black clouds!! Not what I want to see, I see enough at home thank you!! Riva del Garda is somewhere behind it One REALLY Narrow street.....in Malcesine In Malcesine.....looks pretty dark A horse interupting someones pic-nic. Paraglider. Took him 4 tries to take off.....the others did it first time This is where the Cable car left us off. It starts in Malcesine Fireworks in Torbole Dad and me, and view looking down the lake Me and mum.....and our car Going up into the mountains Me and dad in a town called Arco Me vs. Large Backpack. I nearly broke my back trying to lift it Mountains start to get higher Veiw across the lake. Harbour Main street in Bardolino Me and mum on the harbour in Bardolino And again... Me.. Someone showing off in their boat... Along the lake side looking at Sirmione Castle or Fort in Sirmione... ICE CREAM!!! Sirmione....streets are pretty narrow In Sirmione.....a house with nice flowers Me and my mum A really nice house along the lake... Bay in Bardolino Bay in Bardolino Bardolino's main street at night I forgot to add this. I found this so called *drink* in a supermarket. I just had to buy it. Probably the best and worst purchase of my life. Good for the experience and bad for the taste.....
cprocks22 Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Wow nice pictures, all the beaches look GORGEOUS. Glad you and your family had a great time!
Steffen_Dk Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 This brings back memories Lake Garda is a really nice place, and it looks like you've enjoyed it too.. Great pics - especially the one with the "flower house".
coasters 4 me Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Updated the post kind of. I think it is better just putting the pictures up. They can say a lot more than trying to type it out. Oh yea, I added the Beverly Drink at the end. Anyways, I am thinking of making a Gardaland PTR. Just, I don't have many photos, about 20 or so. But you cant really see much as we went at night. Anyways, thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.
Blazen_AZN Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I'm so in the mood for gelato right now because of you...
