Thrillrider15 Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I need help calculating a parabola in No Limits Elementary. How do make a good parabola? Advise would be appreciated.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Or you could just use the formula for parabolas it already has.
coasterlover420 Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Use the purg, it's much more precise and there's a lot more variable options.
Thrillrider15 Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 Wow. I'm overwhelmed. I should have been more broad. How do you make a good parabola?
Thrillrider15 Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 ^ A smooth parabola, in which if you divided the parabola into just two segments, the middle point would be at the top of the parabola, and the three coordinates of the middle point would be at the same height.
Thrillrider15 Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 And how do you figure out the elementary formula? Please take me through step by step.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Just put in the values! Go to file, New element wizard, parabola, and put in the speed at the top and how long you want it to be. Or are you looking to make your own formula?
Thrillrider15 Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 I'm trying to insert the values of the parabola so that the beginning of the segment starts at a +73 degree angle. I hope this clears up what I'm looking for.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 First of all, if you had said that before, this would have already gotten along. And second of all, the best method is really trial and error, just keep making them until you find one that fits.
BiCoastal Kid Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 ^No. I believe the FVD formulas are your best bet here. I know red released a parabola formula with all the variable you wanted a while ago, but he'd probably refuse to release a now outdated formula. The purg is good for it too, and if you don't need a perfect parabola, you can use HSAK with huge intro-outro values and then the purg to rotates it on end like a hill top and it won't be anywhere near percfect, but passable.
CCJared Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 http://www.zshare.net/download/2250802031abd8/ Download those formulas, there Reds. They Work really well and are available for sownload once again, thanks to Tired over on CS.com
