Guest Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Okay, im planning an east coast trip and it has to be pretty brief (no more than 5 or so days). I've already been to GAdv, SFNE, and Darien Lake and the only park I plan on going back to right now is GAdv because El Toro wasnt there when I went in 05. Im thinking 2 days GAdv, 1 Hershey, 1 Dorney, 1 Kennywood. Sometime in late July. Any tips would be appreciated (especially regarding crowds, and order of parks driving from Chicago).
RaptorBoyASU Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I would throw Knoebel's in there at some point. Either on the drive between Hershey and Dorney, or even better on the drive back. And really, I think 1 day at Great Adventure is enough, especially if you get a Q-bot. If I were doing it, hitting the parks you mentioned (which is very similar to the trip I took before) Day 1 - Drive to Pittsburgh Day 2 - Kennywood, Drive to Hershey Day 3 - Hershey until you're bored with it, head to Allentown, hit Dorney if you have time (we rode all the coasters multiple times in less than 2 hours) Day 4 - Dorney in the morning (if you didn't already knock it off), Great Adventure in the afternoon and evening Day 5 - Great ADventure, start drive back towards Elysburg Day 6 - Knoebel's at opening for at least 3 hours, drive home Again, I don't think you'd need 2 days at Great Adventure, but it depends on when you're going I guess. Crowds are awful there.
alpengeist04 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I suggest getting a Gold Q-Bot(flashpass) for SFGAdv and going one day instead of two. The cost should pretty much even out and it would give you time to visit Knoebels. Phoenix alone is worth it.
YoshiFan Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 If you don't care about the waterpark, Dorney can be done in 1/2 a day easily and I would go later in the day (after 5 p.m. on 10 p.m. closings) and get the starlight admission for a little under $20.
Guest Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 As far as admission goes, I get into GAdv for free and im buying a CF pass at VF earlier in the season. The only admissions I really have to pay for would be Hershey/Kennywood.
alpengeist04 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 ^even better, get the gold flashpass at Great Adventure. Trust me El Toro alone is worth it.
Guest Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 The cost of the gold starts at $71 at GAdv, so I dont see that hapenning). I'm thinking regular FP though would be a good investment. How far off is Knoebels from Kennywood, maybe 1/2 day each?

Make sure to stop by a Giant Eagle while you're in Pittsburgh to pick up a cheaper $21 ticket for Kennywood instead of paying $31 at the gates.
